Only having girls, I try to sympathize with moms of boys as much as I can when it comes to shopping. I love buying my daughters clothes (there are so many pinks, dresses, flowers, hearts, etc to choose from!) and both of their closets are proof of my shopping habits. However, that doesn't mean I'm not picky. I'll search long and hard for just the right striped leggings, shrug sweaters or funny onesies before I'm satisfied that they are worth buying.
Growing up in a world of simplicity and modern art (watching her father screen-print contemporary designs and products), Sara Reider founded Snugfits when she tried to outfit her first son in cool onesies and tees but couldn't find any. The poor quality and execution caused her to use her background in graphic design to create a website, line of clothing and business that any mom would be proud to call her own.
The first time I began looking through the selection of designs available at Snugfits, I kept thinking, "Oh, they should have..." but wait, they did. "A funny one would be..." oops, had that one, too. "It'd be cute if one said..." yep, beat me to that thought already. I found myself laughing and clicking through their adorable sayings thinking that SO many of them would work for Little Sister B. A few of my favorites, and the reasons why, are as follows:
Having had quite the cheeks and thighs, I've called her my Chunky Monkey from early on (now that she's thinned out, she's just Monkey. My Crazy Monkey). I'm sure I'm not original in using that nickname, but how about having a shirt to show it off?
At one of Little Sister B's first doctor appointments, we had a different nurse than we normally do and she kept referring to Little Sister B as a boy. He, his, him... I tried nonchalantly correcting her, but the nurse didn't seem to be getting my hints. When Little Sister B was completely naked to be weighed, that's when I finally couldn't take it and said "You're a big GIRL, aren't you?" which managed to stop the male references. It just would have been so much easier had she been wearing this:
Early on in our marriage my husband made up a story about having to mow the lawn so often when he was growing up that he now hates to do it. Being the kind wife I am, I didn't mind taking over that chore knowing that my poor husband had basically been traumatized pushing the lawn mower. Talking with his mother at one point YEARS LATER, I came to discover that the story was completely false. To rub in the amount of harassment he received after that, I could definitely see dressing his daughter in this:
These are only 3 of the endless great options that Snugfits offers, there are so many more that I love. Even better, they take it one step further by allowing you to customize your selection to the fullest. Choose from onesies or lap tees (short or long sleeve) in sizes ranging from 0-3 months up to 18-24 months, with a huge assortment of different color fabrics and inks! The combinations are limitless!
The design that ended up fitting Little Sister B best not only works with her style (I love the black shirt with the clean, crisp pink writing on the long sleeve lap tee) but is the best description of what she does each and every day:
"into everything." Shown as she thoroughly makes a mess emptying a drawer of bibs...
after she has already pulled down the pile of books behind her.
after she has already pulled down the pile of books behind her.
When I opened the package from Snugfits, I was immediately amazed with how soft the tee was. Other websites might use words like "super combed cotton" and "luxuriously thick and buttery soft," but with Snugfits, it really is true. This shirt was much thicker and softer than pretty much any of the others that Little Sister B owned. Upon picking it up, I also really appreciated the longer length of this lap tee because I knew I wouldn't have to keep pulling and adjusting it every time she crawled around or was picked up.
When it came time to put the tee on her, the high standards Snugfits holds for quality became evident. The elastic stretch was just enough that Little Sister B slid into the envelope-style neck and reinforced sleeves and the shirt wasn't left pulled out of shape. It fit her just right without being at all restrictive of her movements... and more movements... and... hey! Now what are you into?!
Snugfits offers more than just their funny onesies. Their infant caps come in a variety of colors with sweet sayings such as "bundle of joy," "peanut" or "worth the wait" and would be a great gift for a new little one as the weather gets cold. These hats are adorable all on their own or in combination with other cute Snugfits clothes.
Also, made with the same great quality as their onesies/tees and caps, Snugfits' knit pants come in black or white and, when paired with one of their tops, make a complete outfit for any little boy or girl. If pants aren't what you are looking for, however, BabyLegs are the way to go for almost any season.
Easily slipped on or off, I love using BabyLegs for when it's a little cool out in the morning but warming up later in the day because they can be pulled off so quickly. Even though they only come in one size, I love the Pink Dot BabyLegs from Snugfits (they carry 25 modern styles) as legwarmers for Little Sister B and arm-warmers for Big Sister E! So much simpler than pulling a long sleeve shirt over the head or pants up and down, BabyLegs are the perfect way to keep arms and legs warm in the cool weather outside or inside in air conditioning in the summer.
If you're looking for a unique gift (that can be wrapped in an organza gift bag with a personal message) that any new or veteran parent can appreciate, Snugfits is a great place to look. The designs are endless (250+), in categories like Funny, Edgy, Multiples (if I knew someone having twins, I would not hesitate to order "copy" and "paste"!) or Cute (I really love "grand finale" for the last child in your family). When you order from Snugfits, you also know you're donating to a good cause, as 10% of their proceeds are donated to Surfers Healing, a foundation making a difference in the lives of hundreds of children with autism.
With no tax and free standard shipping in the US, you can't go wrong for a shower, birthday or holiday gift for boys or girls! And for a steal, check out the Clearance section at Snugfits where you'll find adorable styles at a bargain... I've been checking out the "© 2008" for my little Monkey because she's definitely a masterpiece that needs to be copyrighted!
