snackTAXI {Review & Giveaway} reusable sandwich and snack bags for a happy planet

Even though my daughters aren't school-age yet, we still end up packing lunches fairly often. Food and snacks come with us pretty much any time we leave the house, which is pretty common for young kids like mine who seem to get hungry every hour... if not sooner. I mean really, you just ate two bowls of cereal, a pear, a bagel and a waffle, are you really hungry again?

I fill reusable containers as often as possible but I'll admit that, unfortunately, plastic baggies haven't been completely removed from our house. They fit in the diaper bag much more compactly than hard containers and they are just the right size for holding Big Sister E's sandwich or crackers or Little Sister B's... well, whatever it is that her big sister has. The happy medium? Adorable reusable bags from snackTAXI.


A perfect alternative to plastic bags and wraps, snackTAXIs are constructed out of a 100% cotton exterior and a smooth waterproof interior. Prior to receiving our snackTAXI set, I was skeptical at how well they would be able to keep crumbs and smaller pieces inside. Without the zip-closure of the plastic baggies, what would keep Big Sister E's precious goldfish crackers from spilling out of the top? What I discovered was that where the snackTAXI bag folds down is lower than the level of the opening (shown at right) and this smart design keeps every morsel tightly tucked in where it belongs.

As for how much my daughters have been enjoying them? Considering the bright, fun color options (there are 84 different sandwich-sacks available right now - 84!), the soft feel and that they can open and close the bags themselves...

Yes. I would say that we are indeed snackTAXI fans.

Along with these cool sandwich-sacks (7.5 x 6") and snack-sacks (6 x 4.5"), snackTAXI gives you a way to carry them with their fun lunch-sacks out of fabric made from recycled soda bottles! To complete your meal, there are also twice-as-nice napkins, the cutest double-sided napkins around. Big Sister E laid claim to ours once she caught site of the adorable cat/polka dot fabric combination and I am slowly getting over my fear of her getting it too dirty. It is just such a great-looking napkin!

Finally, how annoyed are you by the flimsy plastic produce bags available in the grocery store? I hate that they constantly rip and stretch, not to mention that they are so cheap that they go straight into the garbage once our food is out of them. What a waste! However, now our fruits and veggies are stylish in our snackTAXI bulk/product-sack.

The 10 x 18" bags come in three different colors and are made out of silicone impregnated nylon (not something I had heard of before!) which means they are really strong while also incredibly light. I really like the versatility of this bag and how just about anything can be stored in them.
