Fun in the Sun #23: Prime Time Toys Outdoor Fun {Review & Giveaway}

When it comes to truly enjoying summer, spending time outside having fun in the sunshine is always at the top of the list. After the long, never-ending winter around here, we're ready to take on the great outdoors as much as possible while we have the chance.

And, with kids, that of course means toys. Whether we're in the kiddie pool, at the beach, playing at the park or just hanging out in the backyard, I'm always on the lookout for the items that are going to keep my girls entertained and happy all summer long.

This year that has been even easier thanks to Prime Time Toys and their latest and greatest outdoor and pool toys that are fun for all ages.

Prime Time Toys' water toys are super-absorbent, in that they can hold up to 10 times their weight in water. Whether in or out of the water, these soft, high performance items can be thrown, caught, dunked, flung, and more with ease.

Right away the bright colors and cute designs of the Splash Disc and the 6-Piece Splash Combo (including 2 Splash Pets, 3 Splash Cubes and 1 Splash Ring) caught the attention of my kids, who couldn't wait to get them out into the yard.

They immediately liked how easy they were to hold in their hands, while I appreciated that the soft, squeezable nature of them ensured no one would get hurt if accidentally bonked with one.

They loved bringing the Splash Pets on a variety of water adventures...

...using the Splash Disc as a throwing disc...

...but also as more creative things such as a boat or a seat to slide on.

Designed for ages 6 and up, the Gatling Blaster is a rapid-fire machine gun toy that is for kids who are looking for some serious fun! With 25 foam darts, an ammo belt to hold them in, and a power trigger that causes sound effects and packs some definite shooting power, this is one way to ensure there is a lot of laughing and happy times to come.

Simply insert 6 AA batteries (not included) and you're ready to load up the ammo belt with the foam darts.

Once they are all loaded in and pushed down into their slots (which is easy for kids to do), the belt is easily loaded into the middle and ready for action.

Turning on the power switch and pulling the trigger, the rotating barrel and continuous shooting (25 darts can fly in 15 seconds!) make Big Sister E and Little Sister B laugh every time. Even though we don't do a lot with toy guns around here, they have been able to easily incorporate this into their love of pretend play.

As well as getting a kick out of the rotating barrel and watching the darts fly all over the yard (then turning into a game of search to find them all), they love giggling at themselves as they come up with various scenarios about keeping our house and yard safe from "the bad guys."
