Lite Sprites Innovative and Interactive Toys {Review & Giveaway}

Lite Sprites logo{This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations, Jenny!}

Usually when it comes to magic, I'm the one teasing my husband about watching the "tell all" specials on TV or getting caught up with the latest magician who appears to be amazing viewers on the street.

You know that's not real, it's just a camera trick.

How do you know?

There's no way that he just levitated, it's just not possible.

However, recently I've begun to believe in magic a little more thanks to one of the most unique and eye-catching toys I've ever seen: Lite Sprites.

Lite SpritesBased on the story of five magical Sprites who bring color to their world of Lite-Topia, an enchanted, sparkling land, Lite Sprites collect, share and use color and light to express their emotions.

The Sprite Sisterhood includes five Sprites, each with a special power: Prisma, the leader; Astra, the keeper of the skies; Brooke, who takes care of the water; Meadow, who is responsible for the plants, flowers and trees; and Bleak, the rebel Sprite who uses her powers to disrupt color in Lite-Topia.

By using all-powerful Lite Wands, this new product line allows girls ages 4 and up to magically capture color and light from any flat surface and cast color spells while emitting enchanting sounds.

Sounds a little out-of-this-world? They are! And when a large portion of the Lite Sprites collection arrived, it took nearly all the restraint that my girls had to not tear right into the boxes to begin playing with these futuristic creatures.

Lite Sprites reviewOnce we had each item out of the packaging and the batteries installed (the Sprites run on included LR44 button-cell batteries, but all of the accessories and pieces require AAA) we found that there were so many things to do with the Lite Sprites that it was almost hard to know where to begin!

Lite Sprites reviewThe essential piece when starting a Lite Sprites collection is the Lite Wand, as it gives the ability to light up, collect and share colors, cast color spells and more. I'm not sure how this wand works, but just turning it on manages to amaze my daughters every time and makes them feel as though they are truly part of something magical.

Lite WandOnce the wand is turned on (there are thankfully two volume options), kids are able to easily choose between the different options of what they want to do with it.
  • Color Library: the Lite Wand comes preloaded with 10 colors but has the ability to add more (up to 50) simply by standing it on the included color wheel or any flat surface.
    The first time we started pressing the base of the wand on the color wheel, the girls thought it was pretty cool that it "knew" which color it was touching. But when we started moving it throughout the house and watching it pick up the colors from toys, books, clothing and more, all of us were extremely impressed!
  • Color Hunt: Find an object that matches the color of the Lite Wand before time runs out.
  • Color Mix: See two colors mix to become an entirely new one within the wand.
  • Color Spells: Help Lite-Topia characters and playsets shine bright colors.
  • Bleak Spells: Bleak, the naughty Sprite, rejects color and uses her powers to eliminate or disrupt color in Lite-Topia. But by using the spells to unlock her, she is able to send and receive color like the other Sprites.
Along with all of the specific ways to play with the Lite Wand, probably the most entertaining is simply using it with the Sprites and the playsets to send and receive colors. Simply select your preferred color, aim the wand, and press the diamond-shaped button... and voila! The color from the wand is transferred to all of Lite-Topia!

Being able to send the colors back and forth between the wands and the Sprites is something that the girls (and I) haven't grown tired of since these toys arrived. It really does seem somehow magical that we can point a Sprite at the others, press the small button on the back and suddenly they've all received it. How do they know?

Along with the Sprites and Lite Wands, Lite-Topia consists of a Tree of Lite, four deluxe playsets and 21 collectible Lite Pets. Each with their own accessories, lights, sparkles, and sounds, including the Tree of Lite and the Flower and Swing playsets to our fun has only increased the interaction and imagination that the whole set has provided.

As the center of Lite-Topia, the Tree of Lite is a multi-level forest hideaway that comes alive with color and includes interactive sounds, a light-up staircase, a movable elevator and a spinning, sparkling, opaque treetop. Each of the Sprites come with a Forest Pod that hangs right on the tree and the girls love having a main hangout for the Sprites to return to during their adventures.

It is slightly difficult for the girls to play with the characters on the balcony, as the leaves from the Tree of Lite hang down and cover most of it, but we have still managed to partake in quite a few Sprite stories there. And, by using the connecting pathways, we've been able to include the Swing and Flower playsets to make Lite-Topia one large land of color and light.

There really isn't a way to describe the unique quality that Lite Sprites have and just how much fun the color-changing abilities are for kids. Whether played when your room is brightly lit or when it is dim (making the colors really stand out), the Lite Wand, Sprites, and Playsets are just very, very cool. Once you see them in action, it's hard to put them down!
