Nutrisystem {Week 5}

Starting off my second month of Nutrisystem, I was feeling pretty good at the beginning of the week. Things were just going in my favor, you know?

Not only were the meals tasting good, word came that Nutrisystem has now introduced four new pantry ready items to their menu and, being a vegetarian, I was both surprised and pleased when I found out I would be able to enjoy three out of the four. It's not often that the odds are that good!

These are scheduled to arrive here today, so I'm looking forward to adding them to my meals...

The Scrambled Eggs with Vegetables, Peanut Butter & Jelly Bar and Butter Flavored Popcorn are definitely going to be for me... and my husband (who isn't a vegetarian) actually loves Italian-Style Wedding Soup, so I won't have to talk him into trying that one (he's also quite a popcorn nut though, so I'll probably end up sharing a little of that as well).

So, as much as the week was going well for a while, then came the weekend. We went out of town again this weekend, although not to a resort that treated us with cake. Instead, it was for a family get-together and two days filled with buffet-style eating of chips and crackers and pizza and multiple types of homemade desserts.

Sigh.

My willpower seems to be waning a little bit lately and between these chocolates and these chocolates and all of the non-Nutrisystem food that was far too easily accessible, my heart was pounding a little bit when I stepped on the scale this morning. I really wanted to hit the 10 pound mark this week just because it was such a milestone number and I found...

Starting weight: Too much
Week 1: -3 lbs
Week 2: -3 lbs
Week 3: -1 lbs
Week 4: -1.4 lbs
Week 5: -1 lbs

Total loss: 9.4 lbs

Now, a loss of 1 pound is great... but I had stepped on the scale last Thursday and was down more than that (and had actually hit that 10 pound gone mark), so it does make me fairly annoyed at myself for all of the eating that I did over the weekend to put a little back on.

So that just means that this week I'm going to have to be extra-diligent about sticking to the plan! None of the slacking and "just one bite" that I seem to find myself doing... it's time to get back to bigger numbers again, I want not only that 10 pounds but even more! Maybe the motivation was starting to lessen... but it's back now and there won't be any excuses for next week. Just more pounds gone!

  1. 1lb is 1lb so that is great. I'm not strong with all yummy foods usually. Italian wedding soup is delish, let me know how this one is! Congrats to another pound down:)

  2. I did some cheating over the weekend too. Don't beat yourself up because as great as Nutrisystem is, it is still a challenge...

...and you still lost. 9.4 is fantastic!!

  4. I did Weight Watchers some years back and I realized that there has to be balance. If you eat well 13 out of 14 days, and on the 14th day you eat off the diet, (a), it's not going to ruin the other 13 days (as you found -- well done on the pound down!), (b), emotionally it's better because you don't feel like you had to deny yourself at a family event, and (c) don't weigh yourself the next day -- give your body a couple more days to readjust before checking the scale. A friend swore that one day of careful indulgence per fortnight actually helped her lose weight.

  5. I had no idea you were a vegetarian. How did I miss that? I guess if we actually got to have a meal together at BlogHer '10 I would have found that out. Lol!

I'm glad you are able to try 3 of the 4 new items. New food is fun! You can't be perfect every week so don't be down on yourself. :( I still have faith that you will do well! In the end it's going to be about your overall weight loss. So keep going and don't forget to smile! :)

  6. I had to laugh when I read your feelings about seeing a lower weight one day and it's gone the next time and you want it back! I am so with you on that one!

I'm struggling with a best day to weigh because I only want to report that lowest weight - isn't that awful? Yes, I'm the type that will take off my nail polish if I think it will help. :)

Thanks for linking up at Motivation Monday!
