Fun in the Sun #8: Acoustic Research Portable Wireless Outdoor Speaker {Review & Giveaway}

What is it about summer that gets you the most excited? Is it the 80° days? When the neighborhood pool opens and the splashing and laughing can begin? The picnics and barbecues with family and friends? Or just the long, lazy days of relaxing in the hammock watching your kids happily play in the sprinkler?

Whatever it is, summer means spending time out in the sun and that means finding the best outdoor products to ensure that every moment is enjoyed to its fullest. Why waste a single moment not having the most fun possible when summer will be gone in a flash?

However, now when we're having a cookout or just an afternoon outside, our days are complete (no matter if they're upbeat and loud or quiet and calming) thanks Audiovox and their Acoustic Research Portable Wireless Outdoor Speaker.

When the Portable Wireless Outdoor Speaker arrived, I couldn't wait to get it set up so that we could start enjoying our tunes outdoors as well as in.

I was initially concerned that there would be a great deal of setup and complicated wiring necessary to get this speaker working, but when I opened the box all that was inside was one speaker unit, one wireless transmitter, two AC power adapters, one mini-jack to stereo lead adapter, and a user's manual.

With that few of pieces, how hard could this be?

In fact, it wasn't even difficult in the slightest bit! All that is necessary to start using this speaker is to plug in the power cord and the adapter audio cable to the transmitter...

...and then power the speaker with either the other AC adapter or with six AA batteries right in the bottom.

That's it! The speaker is ready to receive the audio signal up to 150 feet away and can be used indoors or outdoors, no worries about walls, floors or ceilings. Just connect the stereo lead adapter to a variety of components, including home stereos, MP3 players, CD players, televisions, your iPhone/iPod, computers, and more and the clear sound will begin flowing through.

I appreciated that there are three channel options included with this wireless speaker, in case you run into a transmission frequency that causes problems (mine did not. It worked perfectly and static-free on the first setting).

Combine that with the sleek, portable, mission-style design and you've got an item that will work with your decor while also providing your own personal soundtrack to your yard.

Acoustic Research's Portable Wireless Outdoor Speaker really couldn't be much easier and I love how simple it is to use as well as move around - it can even be hung from the handle right on the top.

The sound has been top-notch, it is weather-resistant so that I don't have to worry about damage while being outside, and it's just so simple to operate. In seconds I've got my iPod plugged in and the tunes are playing. If I want to adjust the volume or turn on the Bass Boost for a little extra sound enhancement, the controls are conveniently located within reach right on the back of the speaker itself.

I couldn't ask for more! Even though this speaker gives you the ability to purchase and add on multiple units, the sound from just the one fills our yard just right and I'm looking forward to enjoying our musically-enhanced outdoor space all summer long.
