Barbie: A Perfect Christmas DVD {Review & Giveaway}

There are quite a few new dolls that have joined the market since my days as a girl, however, in my book the one name that has been the leader for providing imaginative adventures has always been Barbie. She's a classic!

So this holiday season, there's no better way to surprise and impress the Barbie fans in your life than by celebrating 10 years of entertainment with a copy of her 22nd all-new DVD, Barbie: A Perfect Christmas.

Featuring Barbie for the first time with all three of her sisters – Skipper, Stacy and Chelsea – viewers follow along with the girls on 74 minutes of holiday fun. Beginning with a trip to New York for Christmas (where each sister will be doing their own individual activity), the vacation turns into an unexpected adventure when a snowstorm leaves them stranded at a small inn in the remote town of Tannenbaum.

After being welcomed by new friends, the magical experiences begin and include Santa's helpers, reindeer, sledding, a barn filled with presents, and more and culminate with a Christmas Eve concert for the whole town showcasing Barbie and her sisters' musical talents.

The bottom line? That there is never going to be one "perfect Christmas" and that life will not always turn out how you planned it. However, making the most out of any situation and spending quality time with your loved ones is the heartwarming lesson that can't be missed from this movie. After all, the joy of being together (and not the gifts or doing something for yourself) is what really makes a perfect holiday and symbolizes the true meaning of Christmas.

Big Sister E and Little Sister B sat riveted to this DVD and I'm not sure they blinked more than once while watching the bright colors and vivid animation throughout the story. Near the end, the doors open to reveal a large, fully decorated Christmas tree and Little Sister B let out a loud, "WOW!" followed by a, "That's coooooool," as Big Sister E chimed in saying, "That's pretty!"

The music in Barbie: A Perfect Christmas has a pop theme to it and was catchy and upbeat enough that I was tapping my toes along to it as well. Both girls agreed that they enjoyed the singing and liked the various musical interludes throughout the plot. Nothing like a little head-bobbing and finger-snapping to put you in a good mood!

Although Barbie's two youngest sisters do their fair share of bickering, overall I appreciated that the creators of this movie didn't include any villains or bad guys, foul language, inappropriate clothing, scary parts or more. The focus was on family and teamwork, and those are both things that I don't mind my girls watching again and again.

If there is a Barbie fan that you know that might enjoy this movie, they can even enjoy the characters off-screen as well. The full line of Barbie, Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea dolls and toys are available exclusively at Target this holiday season.
