Miracle-Gro Kids Gardening Sets from Peachtree Playthings {Review & Giveaway}

Miracle-Gro Kids logo

My bucket list of things to do with my kids still has a large number of things on it, but I'm okay with that. After all, they're only 3 and 5, so there's still plenty of time for camping and spa days and world traveling, right?

However, every spring there's one experience that passes us by and leaves me kicking myself: gardening.

Now, I'm not saying that I have plans to plant a garden of any substantial size, as I know that we would never keep it up. But I know that my girls would be in awe of the entire process, from watching the seed germinate to seeing it sprout to marveling as it grows into a healthy plant that provides vegetables that we can really eat. Who wouldn't feel a major sense of accomplishment when something that they have grown ends up being a part of dinner for their family?

Just in time for the planting season this year, I was happy to have found the answer when I was introduced to the Miracle-Gro Kids line of gardening sets from Peachtree Playthings.

Miracle-Gro Kids

Perfect for parents to introduce the basic concepts of gardening to their children, the collection of Miracle-Gro Kids products provide a fun and rewarding way for kids of all ages to cultivate their green thumb.

The full line is available in flower and vegetable garden varieties and each one comes complete with everything children need to start planting immediately. From the container to the seeds to the specially formulated Miracle-Gro Gro-Mix that is safe and non-toxic, parents and kids will be ready to have an interactive, immersive experience seeing their seeds sprout to plants in just weeks.

As we were excited to get started with our garden, it didn't take long before we were rolling up our sleeves and getting to work when the Miracle-Gro Kids Windowsill Greenhouse arrived.

Miracle-Gro Windowsill Greenhouse review

Designed for ages 5 and up, the Miracle-Gro Kids Windowsill Greenhouse provides an optimal environment for indoor seed starting. The warmth and energy of the sun trapped in the greenhouse helps the seedlings grow strong until they are ready to be transplanted.

After looking over all of the pieces included...

Miracle-Gro Kids Greenhouse

...it took only a minute or two before we had the sides and top to the greenhouse slid into place and ready for planting.

indoor greenhouse

Preparing the Gro-Mix was just as easy, as we simply poured the contents of the package into a bowl, added half a cup of water, and mixed. After it had fully expanded, the girls helped pour the Gro-Mix into each of the three Gro-Pod Containers, drop the different seeds into each one (tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers), cover with another layer of Gro-Mix, and place the cute plant stakes in to serve as labels. Simple!

Miracle-Gro Kids vegetable plants

After placing our Windowsill Greenhouse in a sunny window, the kids and I checked out the great educational tools that Miracle-Gro Kids included with this set. The illustrated Miracle-Gro pyramid made it easy to learn about plant life cycles and photosynthesis...

teaching kids how plants grow

...while the included Gro-Chart was a fun way to hypothesize and then keep track of how fast the plants grew in how many days and more. This chart was great to tie in the daily growth process and the kids really enjoyed comparing each day's findings to those from the previous days!

plant growth chart

It wasn't long at all before our cucumber and tomato seedlings sprouted and flourished — and the peppers are on their way as well, just a little slower! As soon as we are sure to be past the cold weather here in the Midwest, the girls and I are going to head outdoors with our plants and transfer them to the ground to really grow.

The Windowsill Greenhouse has been a really fun way to tie in the science and education of plant growth with the productive feelings of seeing our work flourish. I appreciate that the Miracle-Gro Gro-Pod system made it all so simple and I'm looking forward to including our future vegetables in our meals this summer and seeing just how proud the kids are that they are the ones who completed the entire process.

Retailing for an extremely affordable $12.99, this kit would be a great gift for any child to provide a little boost showing the entertaining and learning aspects behind the mystery of nature. For more information about this and the entire line of Miracle-Gro Kids gardening sets (there are traditional as well as cute character-themed options such as Mickey Mouse or Disney Princesses) visit Peachtree Playthings.

And, thanks to their generosity, one person will soon be able to start their own miniature whimsical flower garden as well, because...

One lucky person will win a Disney Fairies Pixie Hollow Greenhouse
from Miracle-Gro Kids!
