P&G Partners With Lolo Jones for the 2012 Olympic Games {Prize Pack Giveaway!}

It may be a few months away, but I am already eagerly awaiting the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Everything from the athletes' talent and determination to seeing the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat in sport after sport is something that draws me in to the Summer Games every four years.

This year, I'm not the only one. Procter & Gamble has already begun gearing up for the games and has released the most amazing short film that honors everything that all moms do to help their children succeed by showcasing the amazing moms behind the Olympic athletes. However, P&G is doing much more than making moms like me cry with their videos — they have partnered with Lolo Jones, world champion hurdler and U.S. Olympic hopeful, who recently announced that Procter & Gamble is donating $25,000 on behalf of Family Dollar to the P&G Team USA Youth Sports Fund.

The fund will help moms raise happy, healthy kids by providing broader access to youth sports as part of P&G’s 'Thank you, Mom' campaign. This is part of the company's global effort to raise more than $5 million for youth sports. I love a company that truly stands up to make a difference for the next generation!

Lolo Jones is the perfect partner for P&G, as she is an inspiration in terms representing that any child can grow up to follow their dreams. Lolo attended eight schools in eight years while her single mother often held down two jobs to support her family of six. In third grade, the Jones family settled in the basement of a Des Moines-area church when they had nowhere else to go.

Lolo attributes her success to the support of her mom and community, as well as hard work and determination. "Growing up we didn’t have a lot of money so my mom really had to stretch her budget," Jones said. "My family really benefited from the great values we received on P&G products from Family Dollar."
