Write to Win as Dollar General's Every Day Heroes Program Honors Schools and Teachers {Procter & Gamble Prize Pack Giveaway}

Dollar General logo
When you hear the word Hero, what (or who) do you think of? Members of our military who fight for our country's freedom? Someone you know who has battled an illness? Or simply a friend who has been there for you through thick and thin?

No matter what your personal definition consists of, Dollar General's Every Day Heroes program has been honoring community heroes all throughout the year. From firemen to veterans to caregivers, this campaign has put the spotlight on groups of people that deserve plenty of thanks and recognition.

Considering how important they are to our lives, I couldn't have been happier to hear that throughout the month of September, Dollar General has teamed up with Procter & Gamble to celebrate schools and honor those that are near and dear to us right now: teachers.

Dollar General Every Day Heroes

While we all appreciate the importance of the schools in our communities, Dollar General has taken things further and is offering the opportunity show support by winning money for your school through its Write to Win Essay Contest.

Dollar General Write To Win Essay Contest

The process is simple! Entrants (ages 21+) just visit the contest website to submit a brief essay about why their school deserves to win. Judges will select the three winning essays and the schools mentioned in those essays will win $10,000 each!

At the same time, you can enter to win a prize for yourself, as your purchase of participating P&G products or Back to School Supplies just might win you a $500 gift card!

Write to Win sweepstakes

So, what makes your child's school special? Or his/her teacher a hero? Let Dollar General know and you might end up doing more than simply making them proud — you might win them a cash prize that they'll gladly put to use! But hurry, this contest ends on September 23rd, so don't miss your opportunity to show just how much your school means to you.

Thanks to the generosity of Procter & Gamble, one person will get to enjoy a sampling of products that help with school and every day life, because...

One lucky person will win a Dollar General P&G Prize Pack*!

I hid in waiting for these 3 boys, as they pasted by took of the lid and ran up be hind them dumping the snakes on them, they screamed like little girls and ran home crying. 135. my first day at school in kinder garden, it rather set the tone for the rest of my schooling. Can't say I look back on school with any fondness.
“So you’re the little bastard.” My classroom heckler has an older brother, a fifth grader. I am surrounded by a circle of it would seem almost every kid in the playground all pushing for a place to get the best view of the first official beat down of the school year. The word bastard is picked up and passed around the circle in scandalized giggles.
    “What’s a bastard?”
“It means you don’t know who your father is.” He smirked and the circle laughed.
“Oh, well than I’m not a bastard. I know who my father is just not where he is.” Needless to say neither the older boy nor the gathered circle were at all impressed with hair splitting semantics.
The older boy said something about my mother and sailors which everyone thought very funny. My uncle was in the Merchant Marines at the time, but what this had to do with my mother I had no idea.
I was pushed from behind. Not expecting it, I stumbled and fell scraping my knee.
“Oh look the baby’s going to cry.”
I stood facing the older boy, the ring leader. I was pushed from behind. This time I was expecting it.
I stepped into the force of the push and with both hands gripping the handle of my Jose and the pussy cats lunch box I swung.
My lunch box connected with the older boys temple with a loud thunk. In a move reminiscent of cartoon pratfalls he spun halfway round and fell to the ground.
There was a collective intake of breath at this surprising turn of events. I stood there clutching my lunch box.
“Does anyone else want to push me?”
