But along with simply heading out to marvel at the birds chirping and the snow melting, it's also a great time of year to partake in a leisurely brunch with family and friends.
So, for your next midday feast, now is the perfect time to take your inspiration from the changing weather and create a brunch menu that mimics the flavors of the season with the rich flavor of Musselman's Apple Butter.
A gluten-free, dairy-free, highly concentrated form of applesauce, apple butter can be used individually as a yummy spread or in any number of dishes to give a rich apple zing. This unique, versatile ingredient is just the thing to reach for to celebrate summer!
While Musselman's offers so many great recipes to get you started (or to inspire you to create your own), I was thrilled that they had sent me a few to focus on as well as a gorgeous FTD flower arrangement!
Tulips are my favorite flower and the Rush of Color Assorted Tulip Bouquet from FTD is the perfect way to bring a bright splash of color to our home for spring. As this arrangement comes complete with its own glass vase, it is simply a stunning way to celebrate a birthday, express congratulations, send get well sentiments or simply show your love!
Gorgeous!
After admiring these beautiful tulips for quite some time, I was ready to get to work whipping up something that knew the whole family would love, Musselman's French Toast Roll-Ups.
French Toast Roll-Ups
Ingredients
16 slices white sandwich bread
1 cup Musselman's Apple Butter
2 eggs
¼ cup milk
¾ teaspoon cinnamon (divided)
⅛ teaspoon nutmeg
2 Tablespoons butter, melted
1 Tablespoon sugar
For Dipping Sauce:
3 ounces cream cheese, softened
¼ cup apple butter
½ cup powdered sugar
2 Tablespoons milk
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with a silicone mat or grease well (the roll-ups will stick to the pan).
Flatten a slice of bread with a rolling pin to about half of its original thickness. Spread roughly 1 Tbsp of apple butter evenly on top. Roll up the bread (apple butter side inward) and set aside, seam side down. Repeat with the remaining bread.
In a bowl, beat together the eggs, ¼ cup of milk, ¼ tsp cinnamon and nutmeg. Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, completely covering and shake off the excess. Place on the baking sheet.
Bake 10 minutes. Pull out of the oven, brush the top side with melted butter, flip each roll, then brush the bottoms with butter. (If they stick, gently use a spatula to loosen them.) Leave the bottom side up and bake another 10 minutes.
In a small bowl, add the sugar and the remaining ½ tsp cinnamon. When the roll-ups are done baking, roll each one in the mixture. Serve warm with dipping sauce (below).
Dipping Sauce: In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese and 1/4 cup of apple butter until smooth. Gradually beat in the powdered sugar and then the remaining 2 Tbsp of milk.
Yum! I love the way that the rich apple flavor of Musselman's Apple Butter is throughout the entire french toast (without being overpowering) and the way that the bread bakes up warm and delicious.
Plus, with the layer of apple butter in the middle, it just holds the rolls together perfectly! I had assumed that these might unroll or fall apart, but they're able to be cut (or picked up) for tasty bite after bite!
When it comes time to prep for your next spring brunch or simply to incorporate a mouthwatering product into your meals – whether cooking, baking, spread on bread or more – Musselman's Apple Butter can add an unexpected, flavorful kick to your favorite recipes, dips and sauces.
