For some reason, no matter how many times I tell my husband that, due to the fact that I gave birth to his two children and then spent the following months up all hours of the night with them therefore gives me a free pass to sleep in for the rest of our lives, he doesn't believe me.

I just don't understand what part of that he thinks is unfair.

Nonetheless, I'm not ashamed to admit that for me, sleep is a very serious business. Considering that we spend on average around 200,000 hours out of our lives sleeping, doesn't it make sense to not just treat sleep as this thing that we do... but more as a blissful experience that we can have? Why toss and turn or wake up feeling stiff and sore if you don't have to?

In an effort to give consumers an option other than traditional soft pillows (that don't provide much support) or memory foam pillows (that often feel stiff and uncomfortable), the Form-Fit Pillow is filled with a blend of clean, natural buckwheat hulls and shredded foam.

Wait, buckwheat hulls and foam? In a pillow? Even reading that buckwheat hulls conform to the user's shape and provide support, are cool and breathable, and are naturally anti-microbial and non-allergenic still had me scratching my head. But maybe by combining them with the softness and comfort of the foam pieces it would result in a winner?

Needless to say, when the Form-Fit Pillow arrived, I wasn't sure what to expect but was looking forward to seeing if it helped provide better rest.

Before I even had the Form-Fit Pillow out of the box I could tell from the substantial weight that this was going to be more than just a regular pillow. As opposed to down or foam that hardly have any weight to them at all, this pillow just about requires two hands to get it into place!

Prior to sliding this into a pillowcase and getting it ready for sleep, however, I appreciated that Form-Fit includes clear directions as to how to customize your pillow to find the optimum comfort whether you sleep on your side, back or stomach.

This couldn't be much easier! Simply unzip the three-layer, quilted cover (made from natural, unbleached cotton muslin) and, using a cup or measuring cup, remove some of the filling (Form-Fit recommends removing ⅓ - ½) to a storage bag.

From there, the user can easily try out their pillow and go back to add or remove more of the filling until it is perfectly suited just for you! Plus, with the extra stored for later, if you ever feel as though your pillow is getting a little too flat, just add more back in until it meets your liking.

Once you've found just the right amount of filling to make your Form-Fit Pillow conform perfectly to your neck and head, it's time for a good night's sleep.

Again, I was skeptical as to just how comfortable sleeping on buckwheat hulls could be, but went ahead and continued to follow Form-Fit's recommendations. When it is time to go to sleep, shake the filling down to the gusset sleeping edge of the pillow, lay it flat, and then nestle right into its gentle, cradling support.

As the blended filling is adjustable yet sturdy, it manages to holds any shape you want without causing pressure points. Tired of waking up with a sore neck? This unique pillow eliminates it!


While I did find that it took a few days to get used to using the Cool & Natural Form-Fit Pillow, I awoke after my first night of using it to find that my neck and shoulders were indeed missing the familiar sore feeling that I tend to have in the morning (I sleep in a hybrid shoulder-stomach position that leaves one shoulder crunched underneath my body).

At the same time, this pillow has stayed cool and dry throughout each night that I have used it and I have to agree that it provides the most support I have ever experienced with a pillow!

All in all, the Form-Fit Pillow definitely provides a unique way to sleep comfortably! If you are set on the idea that a pillow must be squishy and cloud-like, then this is not the pillow for you, as it is never going to have that quality. However, if you are willing to try something new and want the support that this USA-made product can provide, then you're in the right place!

Reebok Skyscape: Shoes for Total Everyday Comfort {Review}

I'm going to say it: shoes have the ability to make me happy.

The styles, the colors, the way they can transform a look just by slipping them on... it's no wonder that the shoes were what Cinderella truly needed to turn into a princess.

However, could those glass slippers really have been all that comfortable? When I was younger I would have sacrificed fit for fashion if it meant that I would have looked my best while out with Prince Charming, but now? Now I know that fashion and appearance matter, but you don't necessarily have to put your feet through pain to achieve them.

Is there a more bright, cheery, fun color for spring and summer?

The more that I examined the outside of these shoes, the more that I appreciated the way that Reebok had designed them with such a simple, sleek silhouette.

While a wild, strappy pair of sandals or an embellished pair of flats can be fun, those are the types of shoes that don't end up making it out of the closet all that often because I find that I need an "occasion" for them. Instead, the Skyscape pairs perfectly with jeans, shorts, skirts or yoga pants so that you can reach for them just about anytime!

On the inside, Reebok crafted these shoes using the same manufacturing techniques and processes as molded foam bras, but using materials that have been optimized for the stresses and strains placed on the feet all day.

No more aching tootsies at the end of the day when you're standing on these cloud-like pillows!

At the same time, the way that the the Skyscape are seamless on the inside and made with a 2-way stretch material, results in an overall cushioned, comfortable flexibility on all parts of your foot. As a bonus, having no seams on the upper of this shoe means that they can easily be worn without socks, if you prefer.

So what do my feet think after bringing these home and wearing them around day in and day out?

Amazing! 

These are so soft and comfortable that it's hard to return to any other shoes! They're so incredibly light and breathable that my feet haven't once been overheated, sore or unsupported and the ultra cushioned sole does indeed make it possible to wear them for the full day.

Even better, as the Skyscape are machine washable and dry quickly, there is never any worry about getting them dirty or wet in the rain. They're just so comfortable, that you really do forget you have them on!

At the same time, the underwire provides shape and support, the halter ties ensure an adjustable fit and the soft, full lining on the inside of the suit feels great on my skin (it's even UV 50+ fabric for skin safety)!

As for the Board Shorts in Black, they're just as comfortable and covering as I had hoped they would be. Due to the fact that I am constantly in and out of the water with my kids or moving from swimming to playing or standing watching at a water park, pulling on and off a coverup isn't really all that practical.

Yet, I'm someone who feels exposed if I'm in a swimsuit with nothing over it, so these shorts are the perfect solution and relieve my worries over the world seeing my thighs unnecessarily. They don't have a built-in bottom so I did add my own solid black bottom underneath, but the combination of the elastic waistband, handy front pockets and adjustable drawstring really do make these one of my most favorite swim accessories that I have ever owned!

Sleep Number DualTemp Heating and Cooling Layer {Review}

Recently, after professing her love for our couch and declaring it her favorite place in the house, Big Sister E turned to me and asked the location of my favorite place in the house.

Ignoring the thought that it was an odd question to begin with, I turned to her after only a second or two of thought and easily stated, MY BED.

Really? She asked. You like just laying in bed?

Absolutely! While the rest of my home is just fine, is there really any wonder that, if possible, I'd choose to spend even more of my day lounging in my bed when it is above and beyond the most plush, comfortable, luxurious place in the house?

And we're not just talking the amazing feeling of having your body cuddled by a cloud, we're also talking that, thanks to Sleep Number, my bed can be the exact perfect temperature for me year-round.

That's right. Ever since I was introduced to Sleep Number's newest product, the DualTemp, this additional layer on my bed has taken it to an entirely new level of personalized softness and climate control.

Known for offering the possibility to personalize your sleep comfort with their innovative beds, Sleep Number has now added the extraordinary Sleep Number DualTemp layer to their list of products, making it quick and easy to customize your sleep temperature. Sound complicated? It's not!

The DualTemp features active air technology that heats or cools each individual side and allows users to select their own ideal temperature at the simple touch of a button. After fully agreeing with the results of a recent study indicating that 55% of couples disagree on the bedroom temperature (my husband and I are definitely part of that number), I was more than ready to visit my nearest Sleep Number store to find out more about the DualTemp.

Having been familiar with Sleep Number only as a name and concept (but never having actually tried out any of their products), I found myself thoroughly interested in what the friendly store manager told me about all of their various items.

Even better, Big Sister E, Little Sister B and I had a great time trying out the different beds, examining the sheets and pillows, finding out our preferred sleep number, and more!

However, our trip was made complete when we spent quite a bit of time examining the DualTemp and marveling at the way that it indeed resulted in one half of the bed being chilled while the other half was toasty warm.

This is definitely my kind of magic!

Needless to say, when a DualTemp layer arrived at my home a few weeks later, I had it out of the box and laid across my bed in no time so that I could fully experience its capabilities throughout the night (and without both of my kids squirming in the bed next to me).

After only taking a minute or two to have the DualTemp spread out smooth (it is designed so that it can be added to ANY type of mattress, so the fact that I have a memory foam bed wasn't an issue), I looked over the fans and controllers to get accustomed to them.

This really couldn't have been much easier!

Once the tubes and plugs were all snapped into place, I stationed the fans on either side at the foot of our bed (if we had a traditional bed frame instead of a platform, these would slide right under the bed and stay a bit more out of sight) and went about programming each of the controllers.

I have definitely never had a bed that knows me by name before — I love that Sleep Number included this friendly addition!

Once I had my name programmed into one remote and my husband's into the other, we were ready to go. Now, each time I pick up my remote it says "Hi Xenia" before returning to my previous heating or cooling settings.

The three settings options for the DualTemp layer include a fan, cooling and heating, with both of the latter having three levels (low, medium and high) to choose from.

Sleep Number DualTemp Fan

Setting the DualTemp to the fan option causes room-temperature air to circulate underneath you throughout the layer. Depending on the temperature of your room, your DualTemp will then warm or cool.

Simple enough, right? I love the fan setting for the way that it keeps the air moving throughout the DualTemp just enough to be comfortable. It won't cool you off tremendously or heat you up immensely, but it provides the movement to make sleeping an overall more enjoyable experience.

Sleep Number DualTemp Cooling

Perfect for the hot nights that we had at the end of the summer, the cooling option has to be turned on 15-20 minutes before you are getting into bed and needs a blanket covering to "trap" the cool air in. At which point, when you slide into bed, it reminds me of an envelope of cool air!

As you move the controls from low to medium to high, the sound of the fan on the DualTemp slightly increases but is never loud enough to be bothersome. In fact, although I've never been a regular user of a white noise machine, I've found that the DualTemp provides a very soothing noise in the room!

Sleep Number DualTemp Heating

Similar to the cooling option, the heating requires 15-20 pre-planning and needs the blanket covering to "trap" the warm air in as you move between the three levels.

As opposed to dealing with the hassle of plugs and the feel of wires from an electric blanket, I love the way that the DualTemp heater makes the entire bed warm and cozy. Those nights here in the winter in the Midwest when I have to choose between shivering and trying to layer 10 more blankets on top of me or cranking up the heat in the entire house another 10 degrees?

They are no longer as the warm air from the DualTemp circulates underneath me!

Sleep Number took things even one step further so that you don't have to worry about leaving the heating or cooling running all night long on your DualTemp, as there is a simple timer button located right on the side of the remote.

By pressing it to activate the timer, you are then able to select how many hours (from 1 - 9) you want your DualTemp to run before automatically turning off the heating/cooling and switching over to the fan. Then you can relax easy and rest comfortably!

Whether you and your partner disagree over the temperature of your bedroom (I like to keep the room so cold that my husband shook his head recently and muttered, "This is unacceptable!") or you sleep alone and just want to eliminate the uncomfortable feelings of being too hot or too cold at night, the Sleep Number DualTemp is so unique that it allows each sleeper to warm it up – or cool it down – based on his or her own preference.

Plus, this one-of-a-kind product provides extra layers of extremely soft, breathable cushioning, so every curve of your body is given an extra cuddle and cradle. Since the day that I put this underneath our fitted sheet, I have found myself relishing in just how satisfying it feels to nuzzle down into the snugness while I pick my ideal temperature with the simple touch of a button!
