Back to School with the Inspire Imagination Box Top Program at Costco

Box Tops for Education
This post is in partnership with General Mills and Box Tops for Education. All thoughts and opinions are honest and my own.

Did you know that there's a way to ensure that our schools are receiving much-needed funding while also benefiting your own family at the same time? It's the nation's largest school fundraising program, Box Tops for Education!

Box Tops steps

A General Mills program, Box Tops for Education began as an experiment on boxes of Cheerios in California with first year earnings of $1 million. Since then, it has grown to include hundreds of participating brands (along with General Mills, others include Ziploc, Kleenex, Lysol, Finish, and more) providing $840 million to more than 70,000 enrolled K-8 schools.

Pretty amazing, right? We make sure to clip each and every single Box Top that we can on our General Mills products (I have found that having a designated Box Tops baggie makes it so that my husband and kids know exactly where to put them) and I absolutely love knowing that such a simple act can have such positive results. We hand our baggie in to the PTO Box Top Coordinator at our school, she mails them in, the school gets a check. What could be better?!

Actually, we were excited to hear that right now there is another reason to be pumped up about Box Tops: the Inspire Imagination Box Top program!

Box Tops Inspire Imagination

I have no doubt that Box Tops are already helping inspire children all across the country, as what school couldn't use a little extra money? That funding may go to field trips, gym equipment, technology, books, art supplies, musical instruments, enrichment programs, game days... the list goes on and on!

Therefore, I love that the Inspire Imagination program is highlighting just that and giving Costco members the chance to win even more Box Tops for their school. It's so simple to enter (*see official rules below)! Here's how:
  • Take a photo of how Box Tops for Education inspires imagination in your child(ren).
  • Share your photo on Twitter or Instagram using #InspireContest and be sure to follow @BTFE as this is how the winners will be notified.
  • Sit back and hope to be one of the 3,000 Costco members that each will win 100 Box Tops for their school!
Inspire Imagination Box Tops program

Easy peasy, right?

The combination of Box Tops and Costco is a perfect match, as not only do families such as mine shop at Costco every week to stock up on the products and brands that we trust and use regularly, but we score even more Box Tops with our purchases.

For instance, instead of picking up a single box of Kleenex at the store and being able to clip one single Box Top, we can buy a bulk pack at Costco and end up with 10 Box Tops instead!

Kleenex at Costco

With preparations for back to school underway, there's no doubt that I have been shopping at Costco even more than usual lately. There is nowhere else that has everything that I need for all of our lunch-packing supplies at such great prices!

Nature Valley crunchy bars

Along with picking up the food items that my daughters love in their school lunches (as well as to have for breakfast, dinner, snack, and pretty much anytime, as they are constantly eating), on my recent Costco visit I also stocked up on a few of the supplies that are necessary to keep our kitchen running.

Now I can rest easy knowing that I won't open the baggie drawer to find it empty or, even worse, prepare to run our dishwasher and have no detergent for it. Instead, we'll head into September ready to go... and with tons of extra Box Tops in our stash as well!

Box Tops products

If you aren't already collecting Box Tops for Education, now is the perfect time to start — particularly with the great selection of products at Costco! Whether you have children attending one of the participating locations or not, schools can never have too much money to improve their classrooms and programs and our kids can never be too inspired. All it takes is a pair of scissors to snip the Box Tops and make a difference!

To learn more about Box Tops visit BTFE.com and connect with them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Be sure to also visit CostcoBTFE.com for more information on the Inspire Imagination Box Top Program and enter your photo today!

*NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Legal residents of the 50 United States (D.C.) 18 years or older. Ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on 9/30/17. To enter and for Official Rules, including odds, and prize descriptions visit www.costcobtfe.com. Void where prohibited by law. Use of “#InspireContest” when posting entry constitutes entrant’s agreement to Official Rules. Sponsor: General Mills.

Each box top is worth 10 cents to redeeming school when clipped from box tops products and sent to the redeeming school. Only BTFE registered schools can redeem box tops. Limit $20,000 per school per year for box tops redeemed through the clip program. See www.boxtopsforeducation.com for program details.

Backpacks that Make a Difference: Sydney Paige {Review}

Sydney Paige logo
When both of my girls reached the age when they would start attending preschool, they were extremely excited. Not only for the opportunity to be a "big kid" or the chance to get to go hang out with friends for a few hours... but because of their backpack.

That's right, their backpack.

Both kids have always been somehow enthralled by the way that backpacks offer the capability to tote things around and that they contain your own special belongings for you. Add to that the way that this single accessory is the symbol of being old enough to head off to school and it has been love from day one.

But let's be honest. Other than some extra pockets or a cheesy licensed character, nearly all backpacks are basically the same and not really anything to get excited about.

But... what if there was something more? What if there was a way to purchase a backpack that would be enjoyable and functional while, at the same time, it helped to make a difference in the world? One that gives knowledge and a feeling of global responsibility? Inspiration and encouragement to take action in our lives to think of not only ourselves?

That's exactly what is found with Sydney Paige.

Sydney Paige backpacks

Across the United States, 1 in 5 children live below the poverty line, a statistic that makes my heart hurt every time I see it. So when I hear that the mission of Sydney Paige is to promote the importance of education and enrich the life of a child in need while empowering those more fortunate to help break the cycle of poverty . . . one child at a time, it makes me beyond proud to support them.

For customers, the process is simple! For every backpack bought, the same one —not a cheap imitation— is filled with age-appropriate school supplies and given to a child in need (customers are able to designate the non-profit that will receive this great donation), giving these kids much-needed confidence for returning to the classroom. Children around the world deserve to gain an education, and they need supplies to do so this back-to-school season.

Sydney Paige mission

Needless to say, I was already in love with Sydney Paige and their "Buy 1, Give 1" process by the time I started browsing their amazing products. With backpacks available in four different sizes for toddler to adult, fantastic accessories for all ages (lunch bags, tablet sleeves, and more), and stunning children's books sharing the company's positive messages, there is easily something for everyone.

Why wouldn't I want to send my child off to school carrying a stylish and trendy Sydney Paige backpack when it is also helping kids in need?

school backpacks

Although both Big Sister E and Little Sister B would have loved to have the chance to carry any of the Sydney Paige backpacks, it was easily love at first sight when the Raleigh Laptop Backpack in Purple Patch arrived at our door.

Sydney Paige backpack review

From the World Changers line (for kids 4' - 6.5'+ tall), this beautiful backpack features a chic circular design on the strong polyester exterior and plenty of accessory hooks on the front.

The reflective piping around the front adds safety (as well as more style) and the two expandable side pockets are perfect for when my daughter needs to stash a water bottle for hot days. I appreciate the padded, reinforced bottom to help keep this backpack from wearing thin as it is placed along all sorts of textured surfaces while Little Sister B is fond of the padding along the breathable mesh back.

Sydney Paige review

But when it comes to what really has my daughter excited to bring her Sydney Paige backpack to school, it has to be the endless number of pockets and compartments.

There are two zippered pockets along the front along with a convenient accessory pocket, complete with ID holder, key fob and smaller pockets for supplies. At the same time, for older kids that like to listen to music or have a phone to carry, this backpack has a top zipper pocket that is the perfect size to keep their technology safe. There is even a small hole in the pocket that leads right to the earbud port for easy listening!

Sydney Paige backpack

Finally, Sydney Paige did anything but neglect the main compartment of this backpack, as it is easily accessible with a double zipper and has more than enough room for Little Sister B to tote her belongings to and from school. She has already declared the padded laptop sleeve (large enough to fit up to a 15" laptop) the perfect place to slide in her daily folder!

kids laptop backpack

While wearing a backpack is a necessity for preschool through college and beyond, that doesn't mean that you can't support a great cause (and teach your child a fantastic lesson about giving) at the same time.

Sydney Paige is making a difference in the lives of low-income children by giving them the tools, courage and confidence to learn and thrive in school, stay in school, and graduate... and making it easy for all of us to help their mission with the simple purchase of one of their great backpacks this coming back-to-school season!

Find out more about all of the incredible products offered and the difference that Sydney Paige is making for kids everywhere by visiting SydneyPaigeInc.com and connecting with them on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram.

Other than the Raleigh Laptop Backpack that I was provided by Sydney Paige to facilitate my review, I was not compensated or enticed to do this post in any way. This post is solely my honest opinion of this product and this amazing company.

Balance is in the Bag with Balance Bar {Back to School Survival Kit Giveaway!}

Balance Bar logo
It always seems like no matter how much I prepare or think that I'm ready, the back-to-school season still manages to make my life feel like I've been turned upside down. Goodbye water balloons and popsicles, hello notebooks, backpacks and pencils!

Fortunately, even though this season can feel crazy, there are a multitude of ways that we can be prepared to best handle hectic mornings and busy after-school activities. For me, one name that I know that I can always turn to for help keeping "Balance in the Bag" is none other than Balance Bar.

Balance Bar survival kit

Balance Bar was one of the originators of energy bars and the nutrition bar category and I have long been a fan of the way that their products are crafted with the perfect balance of great taste, quality nutrition and lasting energy.

Add to that the many different flavors, styles and formats of energy bars that Balance Bar offers and there is no reason that nutrition can't be easy and delicious for everyone. These convenient bars can be eaten at home, work or on-the-go, so no matter if your day has you attending meetings, running errands, picking up the kids, squeezing in a workout or more, you can stay balanced and ready to keep up with it all.

So, with back-to-school underway, Balance Bar has enlisted blogger extraordinaire Jenny Ingram of Jenny On the Spot to come up with a Back to School Survival kit and great tips for surviving the season:

balance bar back to school

Keep smart snacks within reach. Back to school isn't only exhausting for kids. Moms and dads get worn down too so smart snacking is important. Pack a supply of nutritious snacks to have in your purse for when you’re running errands or going from school to practice.

ItzyRitzy’s reusable snack bags are perfect for keeping your on-the-go snacks organized and always handy. Fill them with grapes, almonds, carrot sticks and Balance bare bars for a healthy snack sure to satisfy both busy moms and kids until dinner!

cozi app logo
The (digital) calendar is key. To make sure no one misses an activity, homework deadline or playdate, color code each kid in your calendar so you know exactly who is doing what and where and when. I love the Cozi app – it's free and great for organizing your upcoming activities and goes everywhere you do since it's on your phone.

Pack bags within your bag. If you're like me, you have a huge bag. It's great for storing lots of things, but it can be a wasteland and hard to find anything if you’re not organized. I keep a mini bag that holds my chapstick, hand sanitizer and other items I regularly reach for in a brightly colored small bag that stands out. An Itzy Ritzy snack bag can even double as an organizational bag that’s stylish too!

Miniature First Aid Kits. It's helpful to have some first-aid basics in your bag for everyday incidents that are bound to happen. My homemade first aid kit includes Band-aids, Neosporin, Kleenex and wipes. Trust me on the wipes – they’re much more effective than napkins at cleaning up whatever messes my kids have.

Be prepared for homework. With after-school activities, keep homework supplies in your car and bag so your children can do their work while you’re waiting for soccer practice. Keep rulers, pencils, pencil sharpeners, scissors, calculators and a clip board in the car to make sure you’re prepped for any homework assignments.

Mabel's Labels logo
Label everything. With 3 kids, and all the supplies and gear that come with them, I've learned to love labels. Before schools starts, I put Mabels Labels on their lunchboxes, backpacks, jackets, shoes, sporting equipment and anything else I can get my hands on. You'll never have to hear "she's wearing my sneakers" again and it also helps avoid lost items in the school coat closet.

Pack healthy school lunches efficiently. Trying to accommodate everyone's lunch needs is hard. Make their sandwiches and then let them choose three snacks for themselves. In your pantry, have mom-approved snacks (like Mixed Berry Balance bar bars) in three drawers and every kid is allowed to choose one item from each drawer to add to their lunch.

Transitioning summer bedtimes. Yes, I'm probably guilty of letting the kids stay up a little too late during the summer. But that's what summers are for! However, those late nights are not going to work once school starts, so I like to gradually transition their sleep schedules. Four to five days before school starts, I'll move their bedtimes up 10-30 minutes. It's a slow process but really helps to ensure they're rested and ready for the first day.

I love Jenny's tips and, combined with these awesome Balance Bars, I feel more organized every time we're running from activity to activity or just need sustained energy to outlast our never ending to-do list. Bring it on, school craziness!

Thank Goodness It’s Back To School with Fruit of the Loom Bonus Packs! {$75 Walmart Gift Card Giveaway}

fruit-of-the-loom-logo
I received a gift card from Fruit of the Loom in exchange for writing this blog post. Although this post is sponsored, all opinions are my own.

When it comes to Back to School shopping, my mental list tends to always include most of the same standards that have been on there for parents for decades: backpack, folders, markers, shoes, lunchbox, etc.

But in the rush of getting kids prepared and ready for a new school year to start, why does it seem like the basic necessities are the ones that are typically forgotten? Sure, you know all about the cool new jeans that your daughter has been asking for, but do you have any idea if she has enough t-shirts, underwear or socks?

This Back to School season, don't forget to stock up on the school supplies that kids really need while also saving some cash at the same time... it's time to say Thank Goodness It's Back to School (#TGIBTS) with Fruit of the Loom!

TGIBTS

For some, the Back to School season is stressful and filled with the fear of the unknown. For others, it is exciting, a return to a beloved routine full of friends and learning. Around here, we're in the latter category, with the entire family counting down the days until the new school year begins.

Both of my kids adore their school, can't wait to meet their teachers, are yearning to get to see their friends every day and are, in general, filled with happy emotions about getting to go back to what they love. Most definitely #TGIBTS!

As for me, even if I may shed a tear or two as I watch them walk into school with barely a wave, I can't help but be excited for everything that awaits them inside those doors. I couldn't be more proud each time I hear about how hard they work, how well they are doing, how much they care about their peers, and more.

At the same time, yes, #TGIBTS so that there might actually be a second of two of peace and quiet around here! Even though I know that my days are going to fly by in a blur of volunteering, field trips, PTO meetings, cooking, cleaning, laundry and more, I can still dream that they're going to look like this, right?

relaxing in bathtub

Regardless of what Back to School looks like at your house (or in your dreams), everyone wants to put their best foot forward during the new school year... which is now easier and more affordable than ever!

Looking to set your entire family up for success from the moment that they get dressed in the morning? Just check out the diverse selection of colors, patterns, and style options that Fruit of the Loom offers with their seasonal bonus packs!

Fruit of the Loom bonus packs

With one, two or even three extra items free per pack, Fruit of the Loom kids' and teens' bonus packs (there are also men's and women's bonus packs available for those teens who have outgrown the children sizes) have a chance to express their true colors with the first thing they put on in the morning in even greater numbers.

Admit it, your unmentionables play a major part in your confidence and how you feel about your complete outfit (and therefore your mood) for the day, right? Kids are no different! That's why it is time to head to Walmart to give kids a fresh start this school year and kick off 2014-2015 the right way!

Walmart

My girls were more than excited to head to Walmart to pick up some Fruit of the Loom bonus packs and it didn't take long before we were browsing through the variety available.

It seemed as though everywhere we looked there was free, free, FREE Fruit of the Loom waiting for us!

fruit of the loom products

The colors! The patterns! The different options in style and cut and "heights" of socks... my girls just might have spent all day debating the merits of each fashionable option.

When I finally steered their focus to the underwear, I found that I had a captive and curious audience as we talked about the four different styles available as well as the convenient size chart to use to figure out which would fit each of them best.

girls underwear

Once the final decisions had been made, we headed home to wash our new purchases and get started tossing out anything too small, worn or just falling plain falling apart.

I love being able to take a deep breath of satisfaction knowing that my kids will be reaching for the comfort and quality of their new Fruit of the Loom pieces as they start each and every school day!

TGIBTS Fruit of the Loom

This year, let Fruit of the Loom and their bonus packs get your children and teens ready to head off to school with confidence, comfort and style. I couldn't be happier that we were able to pick up these necessities at such a great price — and with the three free pairs of underwear in each pack, we stocked up for even less!

boys t-shirtsBe sure to visit Fruit of the Loom to find out more about their full collection of products for men, women and children (socks, underwear, t-shirts, camis, tank tops and more!) and connect with them on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest as well.

Then, head to your nearest Walmart to take advantage of this value — bonus packages are also available online if you prefer to shop from the comfort of your own home instead.

Plus, in the spirit of #TGIBTS, one person will be even more prepared to stock up on all of the basics and essentials that their kids need to start off the school year on the right foot as well, because...

Move Over Summer, It's Back To School Time with Bright Star Kids Labels {Review & Coupon Code}

Bright Star Kids logo
With only one month of summer left and a rapidly-filling fall schedule, Big Sister E and Little Sister B are both thrilled that the school year is getting increasingly near.

Although they've both enjoyed the past few months of playing with friends, visiting with family, and all of the various activities and events that we have done, I think they're ready. Ready for backpacks, ready for notebooks, heck, they might even be ready for snow pants, that's just how ready they are to get to go to school.

So what does that mean for me? As well as having to keep track of when and where each child needs to be somewhere, I'm going to need to stay well-organized so that she shows up with the right supplies. Certain days they need particular shoes, other days they get to bring in an item to share, and of course there are the days that I send a pair of mittens off in hopes that they will both return home eventually.

For me, the best way to keep away the stress and anxiety of remembering everything and getting it packed up (while also trying not obsess over losing them) is to have each and every item well-labeled. I feel better knowing that if my daughters' names are on each item that they take or wear, that the chances of them getting lost are decreased tremendously.

Which is why right now is the perfect time to turn to Bright Star Kids for a huge selection of colorful, durable, high quality labels that every kid is sure to love!

school name labels

Established in 2005, Bright Star Kids offers their adorable and colorful name labels, wall art, clothing, accessories and more to customers across the globe — and consistently receive rave responses in return!

We absolutely loved checking out their personalized clothing in person and, with the arrival of their School Labels Value Kit, I knew that they would be just as high quality (and that Little Sister B would be completely prepared to start kindergarten off on the right foot)!

personalized name labels

Containing 10 Large Labels, 30 Small Labels, 10 Subject Labels, 80 Tiny Pencil Labels, 16 Large Round Labels, 16 Clear Covers and 30 Iron On Labels (that's more than 175 Labels in all!), this value pack is the perfect assortment of sizes and shapes to make identifying the rightful owner of nearly anything a quick and easy process.

Just as important as having enough labels, I'm thrilled that Little Sister B absolutely loves how they turned out! Of course that really shouldn't be a surprise, considering that she was able to customize each detail of them precisely how she wanted. With nine different color options, three fonts and approximately a zillion icons to pick from, the hardest part is narrowing them all down to one single favorite!

icons

It was a no-brainer that Little Sister B wanted the bright magenta coloring and, after browsing through many of the adorable animals, flowers, foods, letters and more, it actually didn't take long before she pointed directly at the unicorn icon and declared it the one.

I adore that Bright Star Kids allows their customers to see a complete preview of their labels before ordering, so there is no worry that the color, text, font or icon won't be exactly right. There are just so many great options!

name label samples

As for use, Bright Star Kids Labels are just the thing for everything from markers to notebooks to backpacks to gear to clothes. The long-lasting, high quality adheres to almost any surface imaginable (this value kit has a combination of Iron-On Labels and Stick-On Labels) and will endure all weather conditions and whatever your child might put them through.

As the School Labels Value Kit offers just the right variety so that you are fully prepared for the first day of school (as well as having plenty of extras on hand for well into the rest of the academic year), I feel so much better knowing that Little Sister B's belongings and wardrobe are ready to go!

shoe name labels

Don't have a child heading to school this fall? Bright Star Kids has a ton of different options in personalized labels so that all sorts of things around your home, garage or office can be labeled, organized and ready to make life easier.

We were able to see the Speech Bubble Chalkboard Labels and the Heart Chalkboard Labels and oh my, these are adorable and fun!

reusable chalkboard labels

I love the idea of using these in the kitchen, to label craft supplies, for gift tags and so much more... and I'm definitely going to be using Bright Star Kids' idea of including these in my kids' lunches for changeable messages this fall!

Fruit of the Loom Celebrates Back-To-School with "Underwear for Overachievers" {$75 Walmart Gift Card Giveaway}

fruit-of-the-loom-logo
When it comes to Back to School shopping, my mental list tends to always include most of the same standards that have been on there for parents for decades: backpack, folders, markers, shoes, lunchbox, etc.

But in the rush of getting kids prepared and ready for a new school year to start, why does it seem like the basic necessities are the ones that are typically forgotten? Sure, you know all about the cool new jeans that your daughter has been asking for, but do you have any idea if she has enough t-shirts, underwear or socks?

This Back to School season, don't forget to stock up on the school supplies that kids really need while also saving some cash at the same time with the Fruit of the Loom "Underwear for Overachievers" Program!

underwear for overachievers

That's right, it's now easier and more affordable than ever to set your entire family up for success with the diverse selection of colors, patterns, and style options that Fruit of the Loom offers with their seasonal bonus packs.

With one, two or even three extra items free per pack, kids and teens have a chance to express their "true colors" with the first thing they put on in the morning in even greater numbers.

Admit it, your unmentionables play a major part in how you feel about your complete outfit (and therefore your mood) for the day, right? Kids are no different!

With that in mind, I was feeling like pretty much a failure of a parent when I looked in my girls' dressers and found that their socks and underwear were in a pretty sad state.

old underwear

Really, Mom? Broken elastic sticking out all over the place? Cotton worn thin everywhere? How can I think that my girls will be able to focus on doing their best in school when they start their day with this?

That's when it was time to head to Walmart to give my kids a fresh start this school year. Let's kick off 2013-2014 the right way!

back to school shopping

While Back to School shopping with kids typically isn't high on anyone's Super Fun To-Do List, I appreciate the way that Walmart makes it fast, easy and convenient.

With aisle after aisle of affordable notebooks, folders, binders, glue sticks and much more, all that is left to do is fill your cart with the items needed for your child's classroom — and Walmart even makes that easy with their School Supply Lists (broken down by school and grade) right when you walk in the door!

Thanks to Big Sister E's school's PTO (who make it possible to buy all the supplies through them) and Little Sister B's short 4K (4-year-old kindergarten) list, we were able to bypass most of the typical school supplies and head right over to look for Fruit of the Loom.

Fruit of the Loom kids

The colors! The patterns! The different options in style and cut — there are even four different "heights" of socks to choose from! After the girls debated the merits of each fashionable option for a while, we headed home to wash our new purchases and see what old pieces could be replaced.

Sure enough, along with tossing out multiple pairs of underwear that resembled those in the photo up above, I was able to take a deep breath of satisfaction knowing that my kids would be reaching for the comfort and quality of their new Fruit of the Loom pieces instead.

new underwear

Because what kind of mother wouldn't cringe when her kids' socks look like this?

dirty socks

Be gone, old raggedy socks!

new socks

Every day since our shopping trip, the girls have excitedly talked about getting to put on their new socks and underwear, as well as raving about just how soft and comfortable the socks have been. I'm definitely considering this an extremely successful Back to School shopping trip!

This year, let Fruit of the Loom and their "Underwear for Overachievers" campaign get your children and teens ready to head off to school with confidence, comfort and style. I couldn't be happier that we were able to pick up these necessities at such a great price — and with the three free pairs of underwear in each pack, we stocked up for even less!
