Girls' Dresses for all Occasions: Little-Little Black Dress Shop {Review & Giveaway}

llbd shop logo{This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations, Cathi!}

Little Sister B has a few words in her vocabulary that are additions that only work for someone who is 3. For instance, as much as I want to start my sentences off with, "Whobody wants to..." it just doesn't sound quite as cute.

As well as the words of her own creation, she also has a few that are used not exactly for their intended meaning. It isn't that she doesn't know the correct use, she just has adopted a slightly different way of using them in a sentence. For example: princess.

Of course she knows what a princess truly is, but for her, the word also doubles as an article of clothing. As in, "What do you want to wear today?" "I want to pick out a princess!!" I can't blame her, though. After all, there are definitely dresses that deserve to be called a princess, partially for the look and partially for the way that they make a little girl feel when wearing them.

Which is precisely why we love to shop at sites that cater to finding just the right dress for special occasions or everyday fashion. And the boutique that knows all about providing little black dresses and party dresses is none other than the fashionable experts at the Little-Little Black Dress Shop.

girls' dressesWith the belief that "One is never too young or too small to have a llbd in her wardrobe ready for any occasion," Little-Little Black Dress Shop focuses on boutique style and designer apparel for sizes 6 months through 12 years. With everything from those fashionable dresses to adorable cardigans to chic outerwear to trendy jewelry to the cutest gifts, llbd shop knows how to style girls of all ages.

However, we've all had the experience of trying to shop online and finding it frustrating to try to navigate a site that is laid out poorly or has a limited selection. How much is shipping? Do they offer returns? Can I have my gift wrapped? Where the heck is the size chart? Why do I have to dig to find the answers to the same questions that every other shopper has surely wondered as well?

Fortunately, llbd shop makes sure that you will have an easy, problem-free shopping experience at their boutique. Looking for items besides their classic little little black dresses? One click on Other Apparel leads you quickly to coats, skirts, tops, sweaters, leggings, shoes, baby outfits and more.

girls clothesOr maybe you're in need of the perfect finishing touch for a little little black dress? The Jewelry & Accessories category is filled with headbands, hair clips, necklaces, bracelets and more. Is there a little girl out there that wouldn't want to complete her outfit with the cutest dog wristlet purse?

dog purseBeing the bargain-hunter that I am, one of the first places I like to visit when I shop online is the sale section. I can't pass up a good deal! And there is no shortage of those at llbd shop, as their Sale category contains dresses, coats, accessories, special occasion and even a selection of clearance items that are anywhere from 50% to 70% off!

girls clothes saleWhen it comes to online shopping, I will only return to a site if I know that I can find what I'm looking for and it won't take hiring a private detective or taking out a loan to get it. Easy navigation, affordable prices and a large selection all need to come together with plenty of pictures, quick links and helpful customer service. Too much to ask? Not with llbd shop!

When it comes time to shop for little girls clothes and girls necklaceaccessories, including designer dresses for sizes 6 months through 12, you'll always find adorable, chic, trendy, or just plain cute items from the Little-Little Black Dress Shop.

From full price to great sales (you can even receive an extra 10% off of the entire site if you sign up for their email list!) and free shipping with orders over $50, for your next special occasion, party or everyday outfit, you won't want to miss this great site.

And, thanks to their generosity, one person will be able to pick up a stylishly great deal or two, because...

One lucky person will win a $75 gift certificate to the Sale pages (and free shipping) from llbd shop!

CLARO Acne Clearing Device {Review}

Acne isn't particularly a topic that anyone loves talking about (unless they are one of those annoying people who can say that they've never had to deal with it, in which case no one likes them anyway).

But for the rest of the world that suffers from slight to mild to moderate to severe acne, the numerous products and treatments out there can often be mind-boggling. Creams, lotions, medications, cleansers, prescriptions, dermatologists... where do you even begin?

Fortunately, there is one handheld device out there that treats acne quickly and effectively and makes it possible to achieve spa-like results right at home: the CLARO Acne Clearing Device.

CLARO Acne Clearing DeviceThe CLARO is the only FDA cleared, over-the-counter acne clearing device that utilizes Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology, a powerful combination of heat and light, to treat mild to moderate acne quickly and naturally. By delivering a series of light pulses in six seconds that safely penetrate the skin to target the cause of acne, there is no mess, no cream, no hassle. Simply less acne!

Could it really be that easy? After hearing about the CLARO and the technology and possibilities behind this handheld light treatment, I wanted to know more and was of course interested to try it out.

CLARO Acne Clearing Device reviewAlong with the device itself, I opened the box and found a pair of safety goggles that look like those used at a tanning salon (which could have used some sort of strap or way to keep them in place on their own), a charger and a lengthy, detailed instructional manual.

CLARO ReviewAs I began reading over the directions, I was initially a little hesitant simply because this is a technologically-advanced device and I? Well, I'm not all that well-versed in the field of science when it comes to understanding how the spectrum of light waves can stimulate the production of oxygen and attack the bacteria that causes acne. I just wanted to know that I wasn't going to damage my skin (or my eyes) and that I wasn't going to cause myself any undue pain in the process.

As it turned out, the CLARO is an easy to use system and my worries had all but disappeared by the first time I put it to the test. By simply turning on the CLARO (the Light Ring in the center will glow green to show that the device is working) and placing the circular Treatment Window firmly over your blemish...

CLARO Acne Clearing...the CLARO beeps twice to show that it is in position and ready to treat your skin. With your goggles on for safety, press and release the Control Button again and the light will flash 10 times in 6 seconds — this is the first half of your treatment.

Lifting the CLARO from your skin allows it to reset and you are ready to repeat the steps on the same location once more for the second half of the treatment. So after a total of 12 seconds (plus a few more in between), you'll have completed your application and are on your way to clearer skin (if needed, the next treatment should be at least 8 hours later)!

While I haven't had any major blemishes to treat to show improvement, the CLARO studies and results from their website speak for themselves:

Acne Clearing DeviceI have to admit that overall I have been impressed with the CLARO and how easy it has been to use. The light pulses feel warm but not at all painful (the instructions do recommend testing an area on your forearm before use to be sure you don't have issues with light sensitivity), and my skin has shown improvement each time I have utilized this device in terms of blemish size and irritation.

While it would be easier to line up the Treatment Window if there was an indicator on the top of the CLARO showing exactly where that circle is located, I have found that the more times I've used this, the easier that it gets. Just knowing that the Intense Pulsed Light is killing bacteria, opening the pore, increasing oxygen flow and encouraging my skin to defend off pimples is something that I've definitely been happy about!

While the cost of the CLARO is on the high end ($194.99), this portable, high-tech, effective product can take the place of money spent on treatments at a dermatologist (or dozens of medications and creams from the store) and is used in your home when it is convenient for you. So if you've been looking for a way to have clear skin and are tired of the prescriptions and lotions, maybe it's time for the combination of heat and light!

The CLARO Acne Clearing Device is available now at Best Buy, so visit their website to find out more information and to determine if this device is right for you.

(Other than the CLARO Acne Clearing Device that I received from Best Buy for free, I was not provided with anything or enticed to do this review in any way. This review is solely my opinion of this product.)

Peaceable Kingdom Cooperative Games and Preschool Skills Builder Games {Review & Giveaway}

Peaceable Kingdom logo{This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations, Danielle!}

You have to be careful when uttering the phrase, Anyone want to play a game? in our house, as it often results in a near-stampede.

Big Sister E has long reached the age where she enjoys the interaction and entertainment of playing board games and Little Sister B is much more likely to be able to play along after having actually listened to the concept and rules. The only problems that we tend to run into are attention spans that run out, waiting patiently to take turns and the big one: winning and losing.

Yes, learning to deal with the disappointment of losing is necessary in life, but the competitive side to playing games can often make it difficult to play with young children and not result in sadness. Who wants to lose?

Not wanting my children to grow up having been "let win" too often and yet not develop a jaded view of games if indeed they continue to lose, I love knowing that there are innovative companies like Peaceable Kingdom that not only create products and games that educate and inspire, but promote cooperative play.

Peaceable KingdomAn expert in juvenile product development, Peaceable Kingdom is a leader in juvenile stickers, greeting cards, and games. As their mission is to make good, do good, and be good, they continually focus on fresh, fun and award-winning products, donating to charitable organizations that support the well-being of children, and using sustainable, eco-friendly materials whenever possible.

Along with their past products, Peaceable Kingdom recently launched five new games in their Cooperative and Preschool Skills Builder categories that make playtime a time to share, play fair, and have fun. I love the idea that the Preschool Skills Builder games not only promote working together, but that they include everyday tasks such as cutting with safety scissors or recognizing left from right to help children master these necessary skills.

The new game titles in this category are Feed The Woozle, Willy’s Wiggly Web and Snug As A Bug In A Rug, all of which sound and look incredibly fun. And when Feed The Woozle arrived, we were able to see that it was just as silly, entertaining and educational as I had hoped.

Feed the WoozleThe girls took one look at the box and were clamoring for me to open it... but then as soon as they saw the contents, their excitement increased tenfold or so.

Feed the Woozle gameGiggling over the bright colors and wide open mouth of the Woozle, it didn't take long before we had this game set up and ready to go. I appreciated that Peaceable Kingdom includes instructions for three different levels of play, as it makes it easy to customize Feed The Woozle to the age and ability of each child.

Because the girls don't want to leave out the colorful spinner...

game spinner...we typically end up playing level 2 of Feed The Woozle and find that it works well for everyone.

Although the instructions indicate that one person be the designated spin-master, instead we allow each player to flick the arrow around the circle...

preschool game...and then roll the die to see how many snack tokens are placed on the spoon.

No matter how many times we have played, the girls still get an immense kick out of the snacks and the humorous illustrations and descriptions. After all, what kid can resist laughing over booger chili, frog-leg ice cream or lemon-flavored underwear?

Feed the WoozlePlacing the snack tokens on the spoon...

educational game...the player then sets off to feed the Woozle without dropping any of the snacks. In level 1 of the game, the players are already working on their fine motor skills, dexterity, gross motor skills and counting, but in level 2, with the addition of the spinner, there is the added challenge of having to move in a particular way.

Instead of just walking to the Woozle with the spoon, players have to march, walk backward, bunny hop, and more. If we weren't already chuckling over having chocolate-covered flies on our spoon, then adding a hula dance along with them is sure to bring on the outright laughter!

kids gamesWhile Little Sister B, at 3, has a more difficult time of doing some of the movements while focusing on keeping her snacks on the spoon, having the whole family cheer her on is always a big help. After all, once she gets her snack tokens into the Woozle's mouth...

kids board games...that means that we can add more yummy cards to our pile. As the game is over once all 12 of the yummy cards are collected by the team, that just means that we all want to encourage each other as much as possible.

Who knew that 12 small square cards could lead to such cooperation and talk of working together to overcome a common obstacle (and not each other)?

game tokensAlthough it might be a while before we attempt level 3 (blindfolds!), I have no doubt that Feed the Woozle will be pulled out many more times in the future. The way that it encourages helping, self-esteem, cooperative habits and that no one is left out continues to impress me each time we open the box and I couldn't be happier that my girls are practicing early childhood developmental skills at the same time.

Retailing for $20, Feed The Woozle is available on Amazon, along with the rest of the unique and fun Peaceable Kingdom collection. If you're looking for a captivating game that the children in your life are sure to enjoy, visit the Peaceable Kingdom website to see their expanding product line and the education and entertainment that they can bring to your home.

And, thanks to their generosity, one person will be able to do just that, because...

Baby Einstein Music & Discovery Travel Mirror {Review}

Baby Einstein logoFrom the time that my girls were infants, my brain started compiling a list of must-have baby products... as well as a list of those that truly aren't necessary. If I could go back 5½ years and share those lists with my younger self, I would. In fact, if I could go back 6 years and change my baby registry, I would do that as well.

One name that wouldn't be changed, however, is Baby Einstein. As all of their products are designed to encourage discovery and inspire new ways for parents and little ones to interact, they have only brought convenience and joy to our lives — from their books to their toys to their baby gear, Baby Einstein just knows what it takes to introduce babies to the world around them in playful and enriching ways.

Baby EinsteinFounded over a decade ago, Baby Einstein now offers a wide range of products for babies and toddlers, including DVDs, CDs, books, toys and activity products. Created from a baby's point-of-view to incorporate a unique combination of real world objects, music, art, language, animals and nature, The Baby Einstein Company has been an important part of babies' and parents' lives... and will continue to be!

Even though they are already known for their award-winning infant products, Baby Einstein launched six all-new toys and gear in 2012 that are sure to be a hit: Sweet Sea Dreams Mobile, Sea Dreams Soother, Baby Neptune Activity Saucer, Music & Discovery Travel Mirror, Peek-A-Scene and Count & Discover Treasure Chest.

When the Music & Discovery Travel Mirror arrived, the entertainment value of the bright colors and soothing sounds was evident while still in the box.

Baby Einstein Music & Discovery Travel MirrorI used a mirror with both of my girls when they were rear-facing so that I could check on their sweet little faces to see if they were awake, asleep, content and more. However, the mirror itself was simple and didn't lead to any distraction or joy for the kids, so as soon as I began checking out the long list of features that Baby Einstein included in the Music & Discovery Travel Mirror, I knew that this product was a major improvement.

This mirror can be used in the car for both rear-facing and forward-facing babies and attaches easily and securely to seats in most vehicles. By simply clipping it in place, the music, lights, shapes and colors have the ability to entertain baby while on-the-go.

Baby Einstein Music & Discovery Travel Mirror reviewWith a large mirror that leads to self discovery for baby (and ease of view for Mom), the adjustable strap makes set-up for the Music & Discovery Travel Mirror nearly non-existent. Simply clip it in place...

Music & Discovery Travel Mirror...and it is ready to go!

Music & Discovery Travel Mirror reviewWith a variety of different options, Baby Einstein has made it easy to customize this mirror so that it works for you. The four different modes of play include:
  • Learning mode discovers colors and shapes in English, Spanish or French
  • Lights & Melodies mode
  • Melodies only mode
  • Lights only mode
I appreciate how easy it is to choose your settings with this mirror, as the dials are all located right on the top. Simply select your mode with the push of a switch...

Baby Einstein travel mirror...and your volume level with the 3-option control.

Baby Einstein car mirrorParents then turn the sun face dial (which acts as the power button) to set the timer to the desired play length (10, 20, 30, or 60 minutes) to ensure that their baby will be entertained during the entire car ride.

travel mirrorHowever, the variety of dancing lights and classical melodies are more than just pretty to look at. The different modes introduce baby to shapes and colors in three languages, announcing the names of the blue, red, yellow and green lights in English, Spanish and French as they flash accordingly. What a great way to add educational value to a piece of baby gear!

baby car mirrorRetailing for $29.99, the Baby Einstein Music & Discovery Travel Mirror is available now at Target and Toys 'R Us. The high quality, innovation and way that this mirror can enthrall babies and children makes it a must-have for traveling short or long distances. I have no doubt that babies everywhere will be entranced by watching the colorful lights dance in time to the melodies!

For more information about this and all of Baby Einstein's new developmental toys and gear, visit their redesigned website and connect with them on Facebook and Twitter. Their large collection is filled with soft lights, big shapes, bright colors and sweet melodies designed for self-discovery and the natural curiosity of early learners that you won't want to miss.

(Other than the Music & Discovery Travel Mirror that I received from Baby Einstein, I was not provided with anything or enticed to do this review in any way. This review is solely my opinion of this high quality product.)

i play., Inc. Waterproof Snow Bibs & green sprouts Disposable Placemats {Review & Giveaway}

i play. logo{This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations, Gina F and Mercedes!}

Prior to having children, I was slightly overwhelmed with the number of baby items available. When the time came that I would head to the store or browse the internet for a gift, it seemed as though there were often many more choices than I was expecting.

After having my own children? Those feelings have only been completely and utterly confirmed.

However, the addendum to those thoughts has been the realization that although there are a million baby and child items available, there is a big difference between many of them in terms of quality and safety.

Which is precisely why when you find a company like i play., Inc. and know how much care they put into producing only the highest quality, most safe and yet extremely stylish toys, feeding and baby care items, you want to continue to visit them time and time again.

i playFounded in 1982 and based on values that prioritize protecting our earth and our children, i play., Inc. offers products that encourage healthy and safe development through play. As a company that has been at the forefront of children's health and safety issues, they are continually researching ways to make safer baby products and follow the idea that children grow and learn by playing.

After being very impressed with the i play. layette and green sprouts straw bottle from our i play. review last month, I had high hopes that seeing items from the green sprouts Disposables and i play. Outerwear lines would live up to the same high standards.

i play reviewThe green sprouts Disposable Placemats come in a pack of eight in a resealable, portable, ready-to-go bag and look like fun even while still in the package!

disposable placematsAs I pulled out the placemats (two each of four different designs) and the included three soy crayons, I already knew that these would lead to coloring good times for both of my kids.

placemats for coloringAlthough at first touch these placemats could be mistaken for regular paper, they are in fact tree-free and made of limestone, with a smooth, almost-plastic texture. As well as ensuring that these are water-and tear-resistant (necessities for kids who are going to spill and tug on them), the innovative material is also biodegradable and good for the earth.

I appreciate the large, 18" x 13.5" of each placemat and that each design is detailed and cute while still being open-ended enough to encourage a child's creativity.

take-along placematsThere are even two "design my own" placemats with a fun border but a blank center for full artistic control.

Heading out to eat with the green sprouts Disposable Placemats is a no-brainer, as the entire bag can easily be tossed in the diaper bag or tucked into a purse before heading out the door. After being seated, simply peel away the adhesive strips on the back...

adhesive placemats...and you've created a clean, stay-put surface for germ free coloring and eating. When you're done? Simply pull it back up and throw it away!

Retailing for $6.00, the green sprouts Disposable Placemats have been the perfect way to keep my kids happily entertained when we head out to eat. Knowing that these unique mats are helping keep any dirt or bacteria away while also being good for the environment is something that is bringing a smile to my face as well!

kids restaurant entertainmentWhen it is time to keep the kids happy outdoors, the i play. Waterproof Insulated Snow Bib can provide warmth and protection from the cold and snow in one durable, easy-to-wear piece of apparel.

waterproof snow pantsWith a simple zip-front closure and adjustable overall clips for a good fit and easy on and off, kids of all ages can pull on these snow bibs and be protected from snow slipping in at the waist and ruining their outdoor fun.

snow bibsI love that i play. added the extra flap of fabric at the top of the zipper to protect the child's skin from getting caught.

At the same time, the sturdy elastic around both ankles helps keep legs dry by staying tucked down inside boots...

snow pants ankle cuff...and although these overalls are already made from a waterproof microfiber (with a hypoallergenic poly fill insulation), they also have a reinforced fabric layer on the knees and seat to keep those areas even more safe from getting soaked through.

snow overallsPrior to these snow bibs arriving, I have to admit that I was under the impression that all snow pants were essentially the same. However, I have completely changed my tune now that Little Sister B has been wearing these, as they do a much better job of staying dry than her previous pair!

After playing outside for 15 minutes, I used to find that her pants were damp from the snow leaking through, especially in the seat. Now? We recently went to a Winter Festival in our city and spent hours and hours sledding, snow tubing and more. Whereas Big Sister E's snow bibs were soggy afterward, I could hardly tell that Little Sister B's had even been outside!

playing in the snowRetailing for $27.99 (which is much less than the snow pants and bibs that I've seen in stores) in blue or pink, I would highly recommend the i play. Waterproof Insulated Snow Bibs and wish that they came in larger sizes (they are available in 12 months - 4T) so that I could get Big Sister E a pair as well!

From adorable layette to sweet little rain boots to toys that will bring a smile, i play.'s high quality and affordable prices will keep you coming back for more. Available online or in retail stores across the country and worldwide, you can easily find these amazing products throughout the internet or check them out in person at your favorite nearby store.

And, thanks to i play.'s generosity, two people will get to do just that, because...

One lucky person will win their choice of size and color Waterproof Insulated Snow Bibs and one lucky person will win a package of Disposable Placemats!
