Mail Delivery: OxiClean Spray-A-Way (and giveaway)

When she was younger, it almost seemed like Big Sister E was going to be an unusually clean child. Any time a smudge of marker got on her hands, it had to be immediately washed off (we made do with crayons and colored pencils). If dirt got on her at the park, it needed to be brushed away. Finger painting? Definitely not.

However, now that she's gotten older, my daughter has become much more of a traditional child and can often be found looking like quite a mess, particularly at mealtime. She loves fruit, but the strawberries and blueberries get mushed up all over and even a peanut butter and jelly sandwich ends up everywhere.

If that isn't bad enough, there's Little Sister B. She thinks that she's pretty funny when she blows raspberries while eating, even more so if she happens to have a mouthful of food. The results? Not pretty.

Mid-raspberry and very pleased with herself.

Between the two girls and me, I spend a fair amount of time scrubbing at stains on our clothes. At home, it's annoying (at best) but when we're out, it's pretty much impossible. It's not as though I can stop everything, pull a sink and some soap out of my diaper bag and spend a while trying to work spots out - many of which won't come out anyway.

Alas, a helpful solution.

You may not have heard of Church & Dwight, but you will definitely recognize the names of their products, such as Arm & Hammer, OxiClean and Kaboom. Whether you are cleaning bathroom tiles, spots on carpet or polishing your hardwood, visit Church & Dwight at GreatCleaners.com and you will find a product to make your job easier and faster. They even offer an auto ship program that will ship many of their products right to your door for your convenience.

When I received a 2pack of OxiClean Spray-A-Way Instant Stain Remover, I was skeptical. On the one hand, the bottles are the perfect size to keep in my diaper bag or in the car for when a stain happens while we are out. On the other hand, all I was mainly supposed to do was spray the solution over a stain, blot to remove excess moisture and watch the spot disappear. How could it possibly be that easy and actually work?

The tests? I first tried the Spray-A-Way on a sweet potato stain on one of Little Sister B's shirts but found that after spraying it multiple times, nothing seemed to happen. I wondered if it was because this stain was a few days old (oops), so I gave the Spray-A-Way a second chance on a fresh chocolate smudge on a kitchen towel and still didn't see results (however, I may have biased this one by licking the towel a little). My final test was this:

Strawberry jelly. It always seems to ooze everywhere, doesn't it?

After covering the stain with the Spray-A-Way and blotting away the excess, moments later it became this:

I wouldn't say that the spot is 100% completely gone, but it is definitely much better and required pretty much no work from me.

In the end, I wouldn't say that Spray-A-Way is the miracle potion that I had been hoping for, however, I will still be carrying it in my diaper bag. If that jelly stain had been on my shirt while we were eating out, I would definitely have liked to have Spray-A-Way with me so that I would resemble the After photo more than the Before.

WIN IT!

I mentioned there was a giveaway, right? GreatCleaners is giving away an Arm & Hammer Stain Fighting Kit to one lucky winner. This kit includes Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda (a detergent booster), OxiClean Laundry Stain Remover Spray and an OxiClean Spray-A-Way Instant Stain Remover - 2pack.

I was given the opportunity to write this review and giveaway because of my membership to An Island Life's Review Team, so the giveaway is taking place over there! Feel free to leave me a comment here (I'd love to hear from you, of course!) but to enter the giveaway, head over there before October 16th.

(Other than the 2pack of OxiClean Spray-A-Way Instant Stain Remover I was sent due to my membership in An Island Life's Review Team, I was not provided with anything or enticed to do this review in any way. This review is solely my opinion of this product.)
