Whether it is how I was raised, a result of watching too much news or simply just the way I am, I nearly always think that the worst might happen. Out shopping? I'll probably get mugged. On a layover while traveling? Someone will steal my bags. My husband is out of town for work? Burglars are already plotting when they're going to break in.
Okay, maybe paranoid isn't the right word, maybe I'm actually a wee bit on the irrational, deranged side of things.
Which is why I love the introduction of a new product that can put my brain at ease whether at home, traveling or on-the-go, the First Alert Safety POD.
First Alert, America’s most trusted, recognized safety brand, has increased options for consumers' personal security and helping to guard against loss with its newest alarm – the Safety POD (Protection on Demand).
Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, but loud enough (100 decibels) to help deter potential attackers or intruders, the device is great to use as a panic alarm, a door alarm (for hotel or dorm rooms) or as a travel alarm for luggage, briefcases and purses. Simply carry this compact device for personal safety or hook the built-in lanyard around any doorknob for added protection and a greater sense of security.
Can you say peace of mind?
The First Alert Safety POD is smaller than most cell phones, measuring in at just 3.2" x 1.8" x 1" and weighs only 1.2 ounces. As well as the emergency/panic button and the movement/vibration sensor button, it also includes a built-in bright LED light to quickly illuminate otherwise dark surroundings.
Whether you are exercising in the park, out with friends or spending the night in a hotel, why would you not want to protect yourself and your belongings from a host of potential threats?
You can find out more about the Safety POD by visiting the First Alert website, where these high quality devices retail for $29.95 (and can be purchased from First Alert, on Amazon or in mass merchants and electronic stores across the country).
But, wait. Why not win a Safety POD instead?
On now through 9:00 am on August 11, 2014, First Alert is giving away 100 Safety PODs so that lucky winners can join the "POD Squad" and stay safe this summer and beyond!
Entering is easy – simply "like" First Alert on Facebook, post a comment saying where/how you would use the Safety POD and enter your email address (fans who "share" the sweepstakes will receive extra entries). I received products from First Alert in exchange for posting this information, however, all thoughts and opinions are honest and my own.
