Travel Smart with the TravelWise Packing Cube System from EatSmart {Review & Giveaway}

EatSmart logo
You know that feeling of being suffocated that you get when you're searching for a particular paper or certain power cord and the excess clutter around your house makes it take 15 more minutes than it should?

I get a similar feeling when I open my suitcase while traveling.

It all starts off with good intentions, as I lay my clothes out by outfits in conjunction with each day and what I'll be doing, ensuring that I have just the right things. But then I'll grab a few extras things just in case, and maybe an extra sweater (what if it's cold in July?) and it couldn't hurt to have another few pairs of shoes...

Before I know it, the result just isn't pretty.

Aside from simply being a more organized person (which would happen by... magic?), I haven't seemed to come up with a way to become a more intelligent packer.

Until I was introduced to the TravelWise Packing Cube System from EatSmart.

EatSmart Packing Cubes

A leading designer and manufacturer of high quality, user friendly digital scales, I've long been a fan of  EatSmart's accurate and reliable scales (having tried the Precision Digital Bathroom Scale, Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale, Precision Tracker Digital Bathroom Scale and the Precision Voyager Luggage Scale).

Considering how much the EatSmart Precision Voyager Luggage Scale has improved my travels (I never get on an airplane without it!), I had fairly high expectations for the TravelWise Packing Cubes even before they arrived.

Right away I noticed that this set of Small, Medium and Large cubes was constructed of high-quality nylon fabric and was lightweight yet durable. Each cube featured two way easy-pull zippers, so quickly compartmentalizing your items by size, category or more wasn't going to take more than a few seconds.

All that was left to do was pack!

This couldn't have been much easier! I separated my items into each of the cubes (outfits in the largest, undergarments and pajamas in the middle size, and accessories into the smallest) and had no problem laying everything inside and zipping them up.

While I appreciated that the open mesh design of these cubes makes it easy to locate items, I hadn't realized just how much they would eliminate my typical toss-and-shove-items-to-the-side method while traveling.

All I had to do was place each of the TravelWise Packing Cubes into my suitcase...

...and, upon arrival, I moved them into the hotel room drawers in less than 15 seconds.

TravelWise Packing Cubes review

While I was already pleased with the way that the Packing Cubes had performed (e.g. not a single thing shifted around during my travels, any items that had been ironed before packing stayed much smoother than if they had been directly in the suitcase), their usefulness was highlighted even more the first night of my trip.

When my roommate and I returned to our hotel room after rushing around Chicago for BlogHer, I went directly to my cubes and pulled out the items I needed for my outfit change. Liz, on the other hand, was left to dig down one side of her suitcase... then the other... then move a few things around... then dig some more...

Talk about a timesaver!

As an added bonus, when it was time to leave to head home, I simply moved the remaining unworn items into the smallest cube and filled the two larger ones with clothes to be washed. When I was back in my house, I was able to grab the cubes by their convenient handles, bring them right to the washing machine and get back into the swing of "real life" even sooner.

Plus, due to how compact and flexible these cubes are when not in use, once I had them emptied, they were able to store stacked inside each other and out of the way with ease.

While I was initially slightly skeptical at how much of a difference the TravelWise Packing Cube System could provide, this first use has already sold me! They are able to eliminate the chaotic searches for particular items of clothing, keep everything organized and tidy, and really use luggage space to its fullest.

Available in black, purple, red, silver and teal, the TravelWise cubes make a great gift for the frequent flyer, biker, backpacker or casual/weekend traveler who wants to simplify, straighten and streamline their packing. These cubes have joined the ranks of my Precision Voyager Luggage Scale in terms of necessity and I can't wait to see what incredible product EatSmart adds to their travel collection next!

Retailing for only $23.95 (with free shipping and free returns!) from Amazon.com, this durable, 3-piece set is guaranteed to make your next trip more manageable. I'd love this, because I don't do well with packing and we end up with way more bags than we need. I think this will help me out.

Wow, I wish I had known earlier about the TravelWise Packing Cube System before I bought my last set of luggage. When I pack, it ends up looking like the before picture with the pink suitcase with all the clothes hanging out. This "TravelWise" is just that... "traveling wise." Thank you for the information.
