Design, Build and Drive: Modarri Toy Cars {Review & Giveaway}

While I am sure to always praise my children and encourage their creativity in nearly everything that they do, I have to admit that there are times when... I'm bored.

There, I said it. But if you're a parent, I know you agree!

Because even though we love seeing our children come up with all sorts of imaginative adventures with toys of all kinds, I just know that I'm not the only mom to ever have to stifle a yawn when my daughter brings me my play shopping cart full of pretend food that I need to checkout for the hundredth time.

Which is why there is a small part of me that gets just as excited as they do when we open a toy and find something that is innovative, unique and can truly bring entertainment to all ages.

And that is exactly what happened when we were introduced to the brand that has reinvented the toy car space — it's time to enter the world of Modarri!

Modarri toy cars

A new kind of miniature car line, Modarri are not only sleek and modern but are unlike any other toy cars available. As opposed to the traditional versions that have graced toy bins for decades, Modarri modular cars each include a chassis, hood and windshield, seat pan, seat, fenders and frame, four wheels, front and rear suspensions and a hex tool for completing the creation (and recreation) process.

Beyond the endless creativity options (the parts from each Modarri car can be interchanged with any of the other cars in the line), these innovative little roadsters can actually be driven, as opposed to just pushed around the floor. That's right! With the push of one or two fingers, the realistic steering and suspension suddenly puts you in charge of driving, racing, jumping, spinning, doing wheelies and much more.

Considering that Modarri combines all of the aspects and features that Big Sister E loves, I couldn't wait to see her reaction to these unique cars.

Modarri cars are currently available in three models — a Street Car "S1," Dirt Car "X1" and Track Car "T1" — as well as a DIY model that allows owners to make completely custom vehicles with their own paint jobs. Can these get much cooler?

Modarri cars review

Right away we were in awe of the way that Modarri cars are similar to model cars... but on a much more manageable, enjoyable and kid-friendly level. My children would lose interest in having to meticulously put together a million miniature parts and pieces, particularly knowing that the end result would be an item that was just going to sit on a shelf.

Instead, Modarri can be designed, built, redesigned, taken apart and rebuilt over and over without the stress or pressure — all of the parts from one model are compatible with all of the parts of from any other, therefore ensuring that all mix-and-match attempts will be successful (and colorful).

Simply use the included hex tool to loosen any of the socket head screws and you're able to customize your ride with any of the 12 pieces. There's no limit to the swapping and trading that can occur!

Both Big Sister E (8) and Little Sister B (nearly 6) have had no problem using the hex tools and manipulating the parts to the S1, X1 and T1 and have created all sorts of cars and stories to go with them.

While this isn't the first time that we have had toy cars in our house, the number of comments on These are really cool and Hey, look what I made! and I love that we can both be mechanics have proven that Modarri are definitely something special.

As well as the creativity and imagination in the construction process, Modarri also included the drivable aspect to their cars as well. By literally being able to control the car from the driver's seat, it almost seems a bit magical to be able to shift the pressure of your hand to the left and see the wheels move that direction also.

Since when has a toy car had such great suspension and steering that they are truly responsive to the way that you are pushing it?

Modarri

From start to finish, we have been impressed with all of the thought and details that went into the Modarri line and the way that the cars end up one-of-a-kind, easy to use, and hold together in a very strong and durable way throughout rounds and rounds of play.

Plus, for the added customization-lovers, the DIY car was just the thing to make my girls' eyes sparkle. Each of the body panels were primed and ready for a paint job using acrylic paint — we took the manufacturers' recommendation that nail polish works well and, with no shortage of colors around here, we soon had our own fun colorful car to add to our collection!

These really are just a blast to create and drive over and over and over again!

Modarri review

Modarri's incredible vehicles are recommended for ages 6+ (and are not for ages 0-3 due to small parts) and are available now with an MSRP of $19.95 for the T1, S1, X1 and DIY individually or $49.95 for a three-pack (all colored differently) of the predesigned cars.

I have no doubt that these vehicles will be a hit this holiday season and that teens and adults will find themselves having just as much fun tinkering and customizing these great cars as well!
