Scotch-Brite Greener Clean Products {Review}

There are a few current fads that I wouldn't mind if they quietly slipped away into the vault of "What Were We Thinking?" - which is currently filled with things like big bangs, stonewashed jeans and trucker hats. For instance, when the fashion world opens their eyes and realizes that "jeggings" are 1. not attractive on anyone and 2. make you sound like a 12-year-old girl when you say the name, I won't be all that disappointed.

But a trend that is growing in popularity (and that's a good thing) is going green. As more and more companies have realized that consumers want to be eco-friendly and help out the environment, the number of products available in that category continue to rise.

For me, one of the newest contributions to going green has come from one of the most well-known names in home goods: Scotch-Brite. Now you can clean and save the planet all at the same time with Scotch-Brite Greener Clean Products.

Not only reusable, the Scotch-Brite Greener Clean collection features sponges and scrubbers that include recycled materials and/or packaging as well as natural materials (such as bamboo, agave and corn) as well. Using corn to make a sponge? Yep, now I've heard it all. So now you can stick with a name that you know and trust for quality and power, but you can rest easy that your eco-conscious decision has been the right one.

I really like how the Scotch-Brite Greener Clean Products are not only made out of 100% natural materials but that they look that way as well. Gone are the days of the neon yellow and bright pink sponges that fall apart as you wash with them - these products have a high quality feel that holds up to being used and won't offend your eyes when they're sitting on your sink.

We tried out the following four products and have really enjoyed having them around our house: Natural Fiber Non-Scratch Scour Pads, Natural Fiber Non-Scratch Scrub Sponge, Biodegradable Absorbent Sponges and Biodegradable Expanding Soft Sponges.

The Biodegradable Expanding Soft Sponges are especially unique because not only are they made from 100% natural materials and are reusable, long-lasting and compostable, but they come condensed and flat right out of the package. This means less waste, less storage space and less packaging altogether... and a fun time watching them puff up in water for their first use.

All in all, these products have performed great! I especially enjoyed getting to try them out after having stopped at the Scotch-Brite Greener Clean booth at BlogHer, where they were having participants submit eco-friendly cleaning tips. They have compiled all of the wonderful suggestions into a collection of YouTube videos that are really helpful for anyone who is thinking about or working on going green in their home.

As well as getting to see some of the wonderful women behind the blogs that I've visited, they have great tips as well! From using green dish soap to avoid chemicals getting into your food to trying baking soda or vinegar instead of cleaning products, these women have some spot-on suggestions. To top it off, for every eco-friendly cleaning tip given, a tree was planted by the America Forests Ecosystem Restoration Project - what a great cause!

All in all, I love what Scotch-Brite has done with their Greener Clean Products. They're effective, easy to use, high quality and seem to last longer than our prior cleaners. Add to that they fact that they are made from renewable or recyclable materials, are biodegradable and can replace dozens of rolls of paper towels (saving money and the environment) and I'm happy to have my kitchen be just a little bit greener one step at a time.

Scotch-Brite Green Clean Products are available online or at various retailers across the country - check them out today!

(Other than the Scotch-Brite Greener Clean Products that I was provided, I was not compensated or enticed or to do this review in any way. This review is solely my honest opinion of this company and their eco-friendly products.)

I agree, they really do look natural. And who would've thought corn, right?
