Another reason that I enjoy the changing of the seasons is the opportunity to go through our closets to purge any outgrown or outdated clothing. While the focus is typically on my daughters' apparel, I'm just as excited to discover a line of women's clothing that is not only fashionable but also eco-friendly.
Which is why once you are introduced to Aventura Clothing, it's hard to not be enamored with the beautiful styles and environmentally friendly fabrics — now you can feel good about looking great!
Based in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and family-owned and operated, Aventura creates fresh women's lifestyle apparel while supporting a passion for authentic production with low environmental impact. By using eco-fabrics like bamboo, hemp, modal and organic cotton in a majority of their products, the end results are not only soft and attractive but good for the earth!
As I browsed through the gorgeous new fall collections offered from Aventura, it was easy to fall in love with the way that their pieces reflect the warmth and color that autumn brings. Combine that with the chic, flowing styles and flattering fits and I couldn't wait to see the Ellery Organic Cotton Blend Henley and Mariah Organic Cotton Skirt in person.
As I am always a big fan of classic pieces of clothing that can work together or be mixed and matched with many other items from my wardrobe, I knew that this top and skirt would be the perfect way for me to appear put together while still staying comfortable and not having to put in a great deal of effort.
Available in six great colors, I was excited about the Ellery Organic Cotton Blend Henley in Turkish Coffee as soon as I laid eyes on it. The casual-yet-modern Henley styling went perfectly with the rich, dark brown color and the extremely soft feel of the fabric.
Made from a mix of organic cotton and rayon from bamboo slub jersey, it was easy to see that Aventura created this top with the busy woman's lifestyle in mind. The modified v-neckline provides style without showing too much skin, the roll-up, button-tab mid-length sleeves keep them conveniently out of the way and the waist defining seams give all of us a little extra slimming — who would complain about that?
At the same time, the Mariah Organic Cotton Skirt in the Kelp color became an instant favorite as soon as I picked it up. The 98% organic cotton (and 2% Lycra) is so flowing and soft, while the 22" length provides just the right amount of coverage.
I love that the design of this skirt is so simple and sleek with the visible seams, back zipper, and decorative button detail, making it easy to dress it up or down depending on your mood or day's plans. Whether paired with a blazer or cardigan for the office or a tee or Henley for a trip to the library or out for coffee with friends, the Mariah skirt is ready for just about anything.
As much as I admired both of these Aventura Clothing pieces while on the hanger, I knew they would never leave my closet if they didn't feel and look as good when worn.
Fortunately, as soon as I slipped them on, it was clear that they truly do offer cuts to flatter a woman's shape and are tight enough to compliment... without being too tight that they would cause the wearer to be self-conscious. They were true to size and it was instant love!
Although my husband is glad to see me in anything other than my pajamas or yoga pants, when he first saw me in these Aventura pieces his eyes lit up and he agreed that they looked great!
I have continued to be just as excited about this clothing since the day it arrived and love the soft, comfortable feel, the overall put-together look, and the added bonus of both pieces being environmentally-friendly. They both come out of the washing machine and dryer looking just as crisp and nice as when they were new and have been such a fashionable way to help welcome the arrival of fall.
Even better, while the temperatures are still on the warm side I've been wearing the Ellery Henley and Mariah Skirt with sandals. But as soon as it cools off, I can easily add tights and boots and know that these don't have to just sit in my closet all winter long!
Retailing for $55 for the Ellery Organic Cotton Blend Henley and $65 for the Mariah Organic Cotton Skirt, you can find both of these gorgeous pieces on Aventura Clothing's website (and if you sign up for their email newsletter, you'll receive 10% off) or at a store near you. You can also connect with them on Facebook and Twitter so that you'll never miss a new launch, great sale, and more.
(Other than the Ellery Henley and Mariah Skirt that I was provided by Aventura Clothing to facilitate my review, I was not compensated or enticed or to do this review in any way. This review is solely my honest opinion of this company and their products.)
