JetBlue and PBS KIDS Collaborate to Inspire Kids to Read {JetBlue Prize Pack Giveaway!}

Although school has been out for the summer and families across the country have been enjoying spending time kicking back at home, in the pool or while taking vacations, that doesn't mean that everything educational should be completely forgotten.

Which is why right now is the perfect time for kids to be inspired to get excited about reading thanks to Soar with Reading, the collaborative national initiative by JetBlue and PBS KIDS.

Soar with Reading logo

Back for its second year, this award-winning program is on a mission to open new worlds for kids through the joy of reading and donate age-appropriate books to children in need. As Soar with Reading has a goal of donating $200,000 worth of books to children in need, getting your friends and family involved couldn't be much easier:

First, visit SoarwithReading.com, a great resource where parents can access free summer reading materials, including an interactive reading list, reading tips and expert advice for keeping kids engaged in literature all summer long.

While on the site, adults can also share the name of their favorite kid's book, and for every submission, JetBlue will donate an age-appropriate book to a deserving child through partner Barefoot Books (up to their goal of $200,000 worth of books).

As a special thank you, all adults who share their favorite book title on the site can also be entered into a sweepstakes to win great prizes, including a JetBlue Getaways vacation package! Not to be left out, kids traveling with JetBlue this summer can also receive a free activity booklet with literacy-based PBS KIDS games.

Lastly, JetBlue and PBS KIDS will be hosting several local Soar with Reading events in cities across the country (visit SoarWithReading.com to find out if there is a location near you).

So not only can you join in to help put books in the hands of thousands of kids who otherwise don't have access to resources to enrich learning and encourage reading, but your family can go on their own reading adventure at one of these fun events!

As a part of Soar with Reading, JetBlue and PBS KIDS believe that when you travel, your child learns about the wider world and new people, places and things. Trips by car, bus, train or plane create great learning opportunities and allow you to turn riding time into talking, singing, playing or reading time! There are so many ways to take advantage of the experience of travel to explore new worlds and build your child's language and reading skills.

To further that belief, JetBlue and PBS KIDS have put together a fun JetBlue travel backpack filled with summer reading materials, an activity book, a button and a pencil.

JetBlue travel backpack

Considering how much both of my girls adore books, they were thrilled over the opportunity to add another to their collection while enjoying the other bonus goodies as well!

JetBlue Soar with Reading

Be sure to visit SoarWithReading.com to find out much more about this admirable initiative, as well as to take advantage of their tips, activities, games, videos... and that amazing vacation package sweepstakes! I entered and sure wouldn't mind taking this great backpack of reading supplies with us on a fun family trip!

Thanks to the generosity of JetBlue and PBS KIDS, one person will soon be prepared to celebrate reading and take part in a project they can be proud of, because...

One lucky person will win a JetBlue travel backpack filled with summer reading materials!
