My Perfect Candy: Smarties for Halloween {#IamASmartie #CBias}

SmartiesI have an addiction.

To be honest, I have a few.

But the one that is most prominent this time of year is my undying, everlasting, gotta-have-it-get-your-hand-away-from-that-bowl addiction to Smarties. Yes, #IamASmartie.

Oh, Smarties. How I love your sugary goodness.

Smarties loveThere's something so deliciously simple about their smooth, disc shape and their powdery, soft feel. I love everything from the pastel colors to the way the slight indent feels as I hold them in my hand to the satisfying sweet crunch when I bite into one.

Oh, who am I kidding? I never have just one in my mouth, more like of the roll.

Smarties candyMmmmm.

But as much as I could eat Smarties all year-round (and, ahem, I do) they are especially perfect for being a part of any and all Halloween festivities. With all of the different variety of candy handed out each October 31st, Smarties has a long list of benefits over quite a few of them:

First, the ingredients.

candy ingredientsSmarties are social! Check them out on Facebook and Twitter!

That's right, Smarties are gluten-free, allergen-free, vegan, and contain no tree nuts or peanuts. With all of the kids out there that have allergies or can't eat chocolate or any number of other things, Smarties are one thing that can be universally loved and enjoyed.

Second, the individual packaging.

Halloween candyThe crisp, clear cellophane not only provides that familiar happy, wrinkling sound (I'm not the only one who likes it, am I?) but it ensures that each roll of Smarties is tamper evident and safe.

For any parent that has a child who will want to immediately dump out their bag of candy after a Halloween party, school event or trick-or-treating, it's always nice to know that what they are eating hasn't gotten dirty or been touched or meddled with in any way.

Third, have I mentioned YUM?

Walking down the aisles of candy at Walmart, it's immediately easy to see that there are a ton of options available.

Walmart Halloween candyBut as much as I'm a big fan of chocolate, the melty, sticky, messy, non-allergy-friendly aspect of it always makes me want to keep it to other times. Instead, Smarties contain no fat, no sodium, and are, quite simply, a classic.

bags of candyHey! Why is this box so empty? Didn't I tell you people to stay away from my Smarties?

This Halloween, there's no question what we're handing out to the trick-or-treaters that arrive on our doorstep... not to mention what I will be keeping an eye out for when I'm perusing my own kids' collections.

Particularly because there's a good chance that I'm going to need to take another trip to Walmart to be sure that we actually have something to hand out by the time Halloween rolls around...

Love all of the same details! The slight indent, the crinkly sound of the wrapper, and so many other little things that make Smarties so fabulous!

Smarties are yummy. I love when Target has a bag of them in the $1 section! They are also good for getting my nephew to sit in a cart. LOL!
