I will honestly admit that prior to having children, Barney was a character that I was certain I wouldn't have in my house. There's just something so... big, and... purple about him.

And I won't even get into the singing and dancing.

However, my feelings from years ago don't really matter because here I am with two kids who think that Barney is top notch - the bigger and purpler the better! As for me, I've come to see why this friendly dinosaur is not only an Emmy winner but is on one of the top-rated preschool shows today. The way that he displays sharing, caring, imagination, and learning is something that I'm glad my girls want to watch.

So, when the Barney: Mother Goose Collection arrived, I knew that it was going to not only be a hit but a perfect early Easter gift to enjoy.

Available now from Lionsgate and HIT Entertainment, Barney: Mother Goose Collection includes a full length DVD (with five special features), a bonus music CD, and an accompanying 64-page activity book. What a great way to continue the learning, fun, and rhyming for ages 1 - 5!

With a running time of 53 minutes, this DVD invites young viewers to come along with Barney, Baby Bop, and BJ on a magical and music-filled journey into the land of Mother Goose. Featuring over 35 classic nursery rhymes such as Humpty Dumpty, Hickory Dickory Dock, Little Miss Muffet, London Bridge, and more, kids can join in and sing along while getting to see these tales come to life!

Of course Big Sister E and Little Sister B were mesmerized by the catchy music and the upbeat characters that they know, but I also thought it was a lot of fun to see such traditional tales introduced in this way to children. Who would have thought that singing and dancing with Barney would be the way to learn There Was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe?

The addition of the bonus music CD and activity book really do make this collection a great idea to use in an Easter basket, as the set extends the fun more than just on television. We've done quite a bit of dancing and singing to the music and Big Sister E has been enjoying all of the various activities, games, coloring, and more from the book.
