Capture the Magic of Disney's Secret of the Wings {Review}

While we're big fans of most anything princess- or fairy-related around here, the surefire way to increase that excitement is to increase the number of princesses or fairies involved, of course!

Which is exactly why the joy over the highly-anticipated, all-new Disney's Secret of the Wings was exponentially raised when my girls realized that a new fairy, Periwinkle, had joined Tinker Bell in the magic of Pixie Hollow.

Although none of us knew too much about the movie or where the plot would lead us, when our family sat down to see this all-new, original full-length CG-animated feature film, I already knew that it was going to be a hit simply because it starred Tinker Bell, one of Disney's most beloved and iconic characters, along with her fairy friends.

However, much to my daughters' delight, a sparkling new winter fairy, Periwinkle, joined the cast as Tinker Bell found she could not resist venturing into the Winter Woods, a mysterious and forbidden place for all of the warm season fairies. Once Tink and Periwinkle have met, they make an amazing discovery that reveals the magical secret that binds the two of them together.

Tinker Bell and Periwinkle

Unfortunately, Tinker Bell cannot survive in the cold of the Winter Woods and Periwinkle cannot survive in the heat of Pixie Hollow, so the two make attempts to compensate for the other's needs... and their plotting ends up indirectly causing a snowstorm that threatens to freeze the Pixie Dust tree, therefore ending the magical power.

The movie concludes with the cold and warm fairies realizing that they must work together to save their enchanted worlds and that love and friendship are truly what is most important. What could be a better message than that?

I have to admit that my girls weren't the only ones who had a hard time tearing their eyes away from this heartwarming movie. The animation was beautiful, the music was catchy and the relationship between Tinker Bell and Periwinkle makes you root for their happiness. We have had no problem watching this time and time again and I have no doubt that it will be a favorite long into the future!

As well as celebrating the release of this all-new feature film with the 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download (available now!), you can also continue the magic and entertainment of these fairies at Disney's website and with the Disney Fairies on Facebook.

There are also plenty of fun ways for fans to connect with Secret of the Wings, such as games, clips, toys and much more. I've been having a good time taking this personality quiz to see which fairy I most closely resemble...

...and it tells me that I'm somewhere between Tinker Bell and Silvermist... which fairy are you?

Other than the copy of Secret of the Wings that I was provided to facilitate my review, I was not compensated or enticed to do this review in any way. This review is simply my honest opinion of this movie.
