Tom and Jerry: Fur Flying Adventures Volume 2 DVD {Review}

This past winter we had a great time writing a Tom and Jerry: Fur Flying Adventures review, as it was just the DVD to bring along for the long drive that we were taking with our young girls.

This classic cat and mouse duo has the ability to hold my girls' attention for extended periods of time and their animated antics consistently bring a laugh to young kids and adults alike. So, after having enjoyed the first installment, we were excited to hear about the release of Tom & Jerry: Fur Flying Adventures Volume 2.

Originally created by the legendary William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, Tom and Jerry emerged during Hollywood’s golden age of animation and became one of the most popular cartoon series in existence.

The shorts focus on the never-ending rivalry between Tom the cat and Jerry the mouse with plots centering on Tom's attempts to capture Jerry who is too clever and quick on his feet so Tom hardly ever manages to catch him.

Released by Warner Home Video and available in stores July 5, 2011, Tom & Jerry: Fur Flying Adventures Volume 2 is a fun-filled collection of 14 beloved shorts directed by such animation greats as Hanna-Barbera, Chuck Jones and others.

"This is an entertaining collection of newer and classic Tom and Jerry shorts that we have put together specifically to appeal to a younger audience,” said Jeff Brown, WHV Executive Vice President and GM of Non-Theatrical Franchise.

He added, “Kids of all ages love Tom and Jerry because the premise of each cartoon is conveyed through the use of images and music, and not words, so even very young children can appreciate these cartoons. We think fans will embrace this volume of the Fur Flying Adventures series and they’ll look forward to future installments of it."

It was certainly a hit with my kids and I always appreciate children's shows that don't have words! Tom, Jerry and many of their favorite pals, including Quacker the adorable duckling, Tuffy the mouse, Spike the Bulldog and his son, Tyke, and others appear in this must-own collection... and each one brings along its own humor and laughs!

In Tops With Pops, Tom and Jerry come across a very grumpy Spike the dog and his adorable pup, Tyke. Tom is turned into a werewolf cat in Monster Con. The tussling twosome conduct an orchestra in Tom and Jerry in the Hollywood Bowl. In Saturday Evening Puss, Jerry’s beauty sleep is interrupted when Tom invites his buddies over for a party that includes plenty of loud music.

In Snowbody Loves Me, Jerry takes refuge from the snow by hiding in a shop filled with delicious cheese. Tom is a servant to a witch who needs a mouse to complete her magic potion in Which Witch. Other featured shorts include Of Feline Bondage, The A-Tom-inable Snowman, Surf-Bored Cat, Duel Personality, Is There a Doctor in the Mouse?, Haunted Mouse, The Declaration of Independunce and Kitty Hawked.

Retailing for $14.97, look for Tom and Jerry: Fur Flying Adventures Volume 2 in stores today or on Amazon (for only $11.99 with free shipping!) to bring home some laughs today.

(Other than the information and Tom and Jerry: Fur Flying Adventures Volume 2 DVD that I was provided by Warner Home Video, I was not compensated or enticed or to do this review in any way. This review is solely my honest opinion of this DVD and its contents.)
