Wedding Anniversary Gifts: Year 8 is the Laptop?

With our wedding anniversary next week, my husband and I recently had the exact same gift conversation that we always have when any sort of occasion is drawing near:

So. What do you want for ______ (insert "our anniversary," "your birthday," "Christmas" and more)?

Shrug.

That's pretty much the entire exchange, meaning that the day then comes and goes and we typically don't end up giving each other gifts.

I'm not complaining, as there really isn't anything that either of us need. At least not enough to justify spending the money on it.

But this year things are different.

My husband listened (over and over) to my constant complaints about something that I do need and use daily.

It is SO slow! I'd whine as he walked by seeing me tap my fingers on the table.

It crashed yet AGAIN. I'd grumble as he saw my angry look.

Here's a new one: it just randomly turned off out of nowhere. I said to him just the other day in a mix of confusion and disbelief.

I'm not asking for anything high tech or out of the ordinary, as all I mainly do is exactly this: blog. But isn't it standard to be able to open up a plain document and type or do a simply Google search without the entire thing freezing or crashing?

I don't need anything special for gaming or streaming movies or ports for cords that I don't own, but again, I want to be able to hit Paste into a document and not have it disappear into cyberspace.

And I'd like to have a backspace key that isn't hanging on by a thread as well, if that isn't asking too much.

So, this year is already shaping up to be an especially good one, thanks to the gift that is sitting in the other room.

I don't know which laptop it is or how quickly I'll get used to using it, but all I know is that I can't think of a better anniversary gift to show that my husband understands my love (and obsession) for the internet. I can't wait to start using it!

If you were to receive your ideal gift right now, what would it be?

Ugh stupid laptops. Mine crashed and I just got it back yesterday. Hard drive failure! I was thinking of buying a new one, but the new hard drive and reformatting was only $120 and now it is like new again yay! I am dying for my KitchenAid stand mixer and a Dyson. Two expensive things that I desperately want!

Holy awesomeness! This means I only have to wait one more year until my laptop anniversary! Well that is after I make sure he sees this post :)

Get in there and rip that paper off immediately. Tell him I made you do it!

I'm so happy you have a new laptop! Yay!!! We are lost when our computers don't work, right?!

We need a new network adapter in this household because ours takes two hours to connect. It's soooooo annoying! That's what I would ask for...a new adapter.

What a sweet hubby! I think my ideal gift right now would be a personal trainer or a food program (NutriSystem, Weight Watchers, etc)

Wow, my ideal gift? No clue. Sleep? Ha ha!

I just had to replace my desktop computer for the same reasons you had to replace your laptop. I couldn't open more than one tab without it freezing. Opening or worse, closing a program took 15 minutes. I could not do anything, and heaven forbid I try to do more than one thing at a time! Yay for a new computer (although making the switch was kind of a pain)

There is nothing more annoying then when the computer acts up! It drives me nuts. Luckily with my new one, I haven't had any problems.

Our 10 year anniversary is next month, but there's really nothing either of us needs.

I have been wanting a van so that I can fit my sister and her kids in the car with us, but that doesn't justify a car payment and higher insurance premiums.

So honestly, I don't have an ideal gift. Except maybe that I lose 20 pounds in my sleep and wake up bikini ready. That would be nice. LOLOL!

My husband and I have the very same conversion every time. If I say, "Nothing", I'll get a blouse from Macy's that I'll have to eventually return. Doesn't he realize that I haven't worn a single blouse that he's gotten me over the years? LOL!

Congrats on the new laptop! Are you bringing it to BlogHer?
